Market Development Agronomist (Jamaica - Northwestern region)



Applications are invited from dynamic, self-motivated and experienced agricultural professionals to fill two (2) vacancies in a well-established manufacturing and distribution company.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for, amongst other activities, conducting market, product, and program assessments, demonstrating and transferring agronomic best practices, representing the Company in varied forums and collaborating with stakeholders in-trade and in-field. Preferably, the Market Development Agronomist should live in the Northwestern region of Jamaica.

Core Functions:

  • Manage the sales to a portfolio of customers to be assigned.
  • Conduct trainings and assist customers in product knowledge merchandising and sales promotions.
  • Develop technical aids, conduct product trails and field demonstrations with existing and/or new products.
  • Introduce new products to the market, including seeds.
  • Visit Farms, Farmers, Farmer groups, and other stakeholders within the assigned area and offer advice on the use of the company's portfolio in solving their problems.
  • Participates in Trade Shows, sales and marketing meetings, community and goodwill events as required.
  • Produce timely, accurate and thorough reports on a schedule determined by Management.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Natural Sciences or Agriculture with high achievement.
  • Master's or higher Degree in Natural Sciences or Agriculture with at least three to five (3-5) years' experience in Agronomy, Agricultural product development, or a related field (Preferred).
  • Possess a general Driver's Licence (Required).
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine viable solutions for customers. 
  • Results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using spreadsheets, word processor, and presentation software.

Core Functions:

  • To develop and establish risk-based audit programs, audit plans include audit scope, testing, procedures and reporting mechanisms.

  • Assess and evaluate internal controls to identify areas of improvement and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide recommendations to enhance operational processes and controls.
  • Supervise and monitor direct reports to ensure the goals and objectives of the unit are achieved.

Qualification, Experience and Key Competencies:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • ACCA professional Certification.
  • CIA Designation, CISA Certification would be an asset.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar position or environment.
  • Sound knowledge of auditing standards and techniques, internal control processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessment and executing audit procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical and problem solving skills.

Payroll Administrator

The Payroll Administrator will supervise the payroll team and related functions to provide accurate and timely remuneration to employees. The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Ability to manage large and multiple payrolls for all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of computerized payroll software and ability to operate a variety of modern office equipment.
  • Sound understanding of laws governing wage requirements, payroll computations, and statutory implications.
  • Experience processing Direct Deposit Files to facilitate timely distribution of salaries.
  • Ability to prepare varying payroll communications to include NHT contribution letters, P45 and P24 forms.
  • Experience processing monthly SO1 and statutory deductions for payment; as well as SO2 annual returns report, via the TAJ Online Portal.
  • Quantitative aptitude with well-developed analytical and data processing skills.
  • Highly flexible with above average problem solving and people management skills.
  • A Bachelor's in Business Administration majoring in accounting from an accredited tertiary institution, or ACCA Level 2.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a similar capacity.
