Consolidated Bakeries (Jamaica) Ltd. provides fresh baked products to our customers under the brands Miss Birdie and Purity. We are seeking a knowledgeable, skilled, self-motivated and passionate Human Resource Officer to join our team as we strive to provide Pure Wholesome Goodness to our customers using Love as our main ingredient.
The Human Resources Officer will report directly to the Human Resource Manager and will be responsible for performing a broad range of duties across the employee lifecycle.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Interpret, assist and advise staff on Human Resource Management Policies and Regulations.
- Participate in all levels of the employee life cycle.
- Coordinate the recruitment and selection process to include onboarding.
- Conduct training analysis and utilize data gleaned to assist with the creation of the annual training plan.
- Assist with creating learning and development programs and initiatives that provide development opportunities for employees.
- Conduct disciplinary hearings and investigations, coordinate with department management and advise on the process for employee coaching and corrective actions.
- Assist with writing and updating policies, procedures, methods and guidelines while communicating and enforcing organizational values.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of wellness and staff engagement programmes.
- Coordinate the performance review process and assist with the implementation of appropriate performance improvement measures to improve talent.
- Provide guidance to supervisors/managers on performance evaluations and effective coaching methods for employees.
- Safeguard the integrity of the employee database- HRM.
- Coordinating the preparation and distribution of letters to employees (Promotion, NHT, Confirmation, Acting etc.)
- Computing salary increases and updating/preparing payroll information to reflect changes in employee status, earnings and deduction for submission to payroll.
- Visit locations and departments on a regular basis to stay current on employee issues, success of initiatives, and to keep familiar with operational processes and procedures.
- Performs other related duties that may from time to time be assigned.
Minimum required education and experience

- First Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or related studies.
- Minimum three (3) years related experience or five (5) years HR experience at a lower level.
- Experience supervising a team (a definite advantage)
- Training and certification in industrial relations
- Developing and executing recruitment strategies
- Experience developing and delivering training content.
- Experience with talent acquisition and management.
- Experience developing policies and procedures (a definite advantage)
- Experience working in a unionized environment (a definite advantage)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and flexibility to quickly adapt to changing conditions.
- Sound knowledge of Jamaica’s Labour Laws.
- Strong knowledge of Human Resource Management principles and practices.
- Strong knowledge of HR staffing/recruitment policies and procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills with well-developed conflict management and negotiating skills.
- Sound judgement and excellent administration skills.
- Strong presentation, written, oral and communication skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and must be highly confidential.
- Excellent interpretative and analytical skills.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- The ability to work on own initiative and under pressure.
- The ability to work in a unionized environment.

- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
