The HEART/National Service Training Agency Trust (HEART/NSTA Trust), a statutory organisation mandated to co-ordinate and facilitate the training and assessment of the Jamaican workforce to international standards, invites applications for the following position.

Career Service Officer

Clarendon Parish Office - Glenmuir Business Centre

The Job:

The Career Service Officer is responsible for facilitating the effective and efficient delivery of career services to participants in the parish. The Officer will achieve this by assisting with the implementation of various intervention strategies to include psychosocial, emotional and career development training for the target population and participants. The officer also assists with the planning and staging of career fairs and marketing activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NVQ-J Level 5 Certification or Bachelor's degree in Career Guidance and Counselling/Education or related discipline.
  • At least two (2) years' relevant experience ideally should be gained from an industry/environment similar to what prevails at HEART/NSTA Trust.

Keys Duties:
  • Coordinates the career services offered to participants.
  • Facilitates career policy implementation at the local level/comunity level.
  • Provides career guidance and counselling to participants.
  • Implement employability skills programmes for selected intervention.
  • Conducts preliminary diagnostics and refers participants to different career development opportunities/streams.
  • Works with external stakeholders in advancing the careers of participants.
  • Collates data gathered from interventions including interviews and workshops to inform policy development.
  • Updates and maintains database systems ensuring confidentiality is always maintained.
  • Provides counselling services to target groups and manages information with the highest level of confidentiality.
NB: This is a travelling position and as such, all applicants MUST possess a reliable motor vehicle and a valid drivers' licence.
