Divisional Manager, Finance and Accounting Division

The Divisional Manager, finance and Accounting plans and directs all Accounting, Treasury, Procurement, Budgeting and Fixed/Assets activities; ensuring that the relevant Financial Policies and Procedures, the Public Bodies Management and Accountability Act (PBMA) and Financial Administration Audit (FAA) Acts are adhered to:

Qualifications:

  • A chartered Accountant with a Masters Degree in Accounting/Finance; or ACCA.
  • Level 3 certification; or CPA designation.
  • Training in Public Sector Accounting Principles and Procedures.
  • Competence in Accounting software and MS Office Suite Applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of the PBMA and FAA Acts.
  • Sound knowledge of Government Procurement Policy.
Experience:
  • Four (4) years' senior management experience in Finance and Accounting, with at least two (2) years in the Public Sector.
  • Solid experience in budgeting and forecasting techniques.
  • Strong leadership, motivational and problem solving skills.

Key Functions:
  • Plan and direct the preparation of monthly and annual financial management accounts.
  • Perform detailed monthly reviews and analysis of financial performance to aid the decision making and implementation of strategies that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Prepare the annual financial strategic objectives in consultation with members of the management team and the Board.
  • Plan and direct all purchasing activities.
  • Coordinate the budget preparation process.
  • Manages the investment portfolio and negotiates major supply contracts.
  • Ensures that cost saving measures are identified and implemented.
  • Ensures that the procurement activities comply with the Government of Jamaica's Procurement Guidelines.
  • Effectively lead the Finance and Accounting team in ensuring the division and the Council's objectives are realized.

Accountants, Executive/Administrative Assistants (Montego Bay, St. James)



 Western Jamaica's pharmaceutical distributor is expanding its operations and therefore is looking forward ti employing dynamic persons in the following areas:

  1. Group Finance Manager - 1 position
  2. Accountants - 2 positions
  3. Executive/Administrative Assistants - 2 positions
Group Finance Manager
(1 position)

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Must be a CPA - Certified Professional Accountant or Chartered Accountant or equivalent
  • MBA - Master's in Business Management is preferred
  • At least two (2) years of auditing and supervisory/lead experience
Key Attributes and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the financial operations of the companies and provide leadership and focus to accounting and finance departments to ensure that they operate efficiently and comply with applicable laws and company policies
  • Involved in purchasing, pricing, investments, tax debt management  and accounts payable/receivables; oversee all such transactions and record them in books or databases
  • Strong computer skills are important in this position in order to create calculations and reports, and advanced knowledge of accounting, budgeting and finances is essential 
  • Some travel may occasionally be necessary
  • Basic managerial duties relating to hiring, human resources, and employee direction and discipline may also be part of the job 
Accountants - 2 positions

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Professional qualifications of ACCA level II or possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent 
  • Minimum five (5) years of accounting experience
  • At least two (2) years auditing and supervisory/lead experience
Key Competencies 
  • Well developed administrative skills and knowledge of generally accepted principles and practice of accounting 
  • Must be experienced in SAP, Peachtree, Turbopay and other accounting software
Preference:
  • Resident of Montego Bay and its environs will be an added asset
Executive/Administrative Assistant - 2 positions

Description:
  • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day administrative needs for assigned individuals, departments and/or locations
  • This position requires an individual who has the ability to prioritize while thriving in a team based, fast paced and detail oriented environment
  • Due diligence, efficiency, excellent organizational skills, and confidentiality are expected
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Certified Professional Secretary Designation
  • Proficiency in typewriting at speed of 50-55 words per minute and shorthand /speed-writing at a speed of 100-120 words per minute
  • Five (5) years secretarial experience reporting directly to senior manager
Key Competencies:
The post holder needs to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Sound oral and written communications skills, organization skills, interpersonal skills, knowledge of relevant computer applications and systems and basic knowledge of laws and regulations governing immigration, citizenship and passports in Jamaica.

Finance and Accounting Manager

Core Functions
  • Supervises accounting functions: managing the company's revenue, expenditure, and fixed asset accounting, budgeting, storekeeping and other financial custodianship functions
  • Preparation of budget, financial accounts and monthly financial statements
  • Knowledge of filing Annual Returns and handling statutory deductions and payments
  • Strong knowledge of Government Accounting, policies and taxation

Specific Qualification/Experience: 
  • First degree in Accounting, ACCA level III or equivalent qualification
  • Four (4) years experience in accounts at the management level
