Research Assistant (Kingston, Jamaica) - Univ. of the West Indies


Applications are invited from suitably  qualified persons to fill the position of Research Assistant, University of the West Indies, Vice Chancellery. The Centre for Reparation Research is seeking to hire a Research Assistant for the period August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021.

The Research Assistant should have a solid knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, and database management, as he/she will also conduct literature reviews or field research including running focus groups.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Master's degree in History with specialization in Caribbean History;
  • Excellent research, analytical and proposal writing skills;
  • An aptitude for research, dissemination and advocacy including via various media;
  • A knowledge of critical issues in human rights and global movement for reparatory justice;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent time management skills; and 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
The successful candidate should also have a good work ethic, the ability to work on his/her own and a willingness to maintain confidentiality and to travel in the course of his/her own duties.
