Accountant (Kingston, Jamaica) - National Health Fund

ACCOUNTANT – Receivables and Inventory Monitoring Finance Department

ROLE AND FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

Under the general direction of the Finance Manager, the Accountant has responsibility for ensuring that the National Health Fund’s Accounting Functions are operational. To achieve this, the incumbent shall:

  • Exercise responsibility over the maintenance of the Accounts Receivable Sub-ledgers, Inventory Module and General Ledger Accounts.
  • Financial reports are produced in accordance with regulatory framework and accounting standards.
  • Determine training and development needs of the accounting staff and make recommendations to the Finance Manager.
  • Assist in providing timely, accurate financial reports to Management and the Board.
  • Perform duties in accordance with accounting policies and procedures manual.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • The National Fund Health Act.
  • The Financial Administration & Audit Act.
  • Financial accounting.
  • Basic management principles and practices.
  • Computerized financial accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.
  • Working knowledge in computerized inventory management system.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree in Accounting or Management or Level II ACCA.
  • Supervisory Management experience would be an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience; experience in Pharmaceutical Warehousing would be an asset.
  • Must have working knowledge of Great Plains or any other accounting system.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
