Purchasing Assistant (Kingston, Jamaica) - Petrojam Limited

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacancy PURCHASING ASSISTANT:

The successful candidate will assist with the procurement of all goods and services at the lowest prices, shortest lead times and on terms and conditions most advantageous to Petrojam Limited.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in the purchasing of commodities by processing purchase orders and auditing invoices for accuracy.
• Researches and solves discrepancies, calculates payments and adjustments and processes returns.
• Translates requisitions into purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Assists in the expediting of purchases from local and foreign suppliers.
• Ensures materials and equipment are promptly retrieved from port of entry.
• Liaises with shipping line or agents handling shipment.
• Receives and issues Customs and other clearance document to brokers to clear goods. Secures permits that might be necessary to facilitate clearance of goods.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Degree in Management Studies, Accounting or equivalent
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in supply chain management or procurement.
• Working Knowledge of SAP
• Knowledge of GOJ procurement guidelines.
