Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Job Overview
To provide high quality administrative and legal support to the Legal Counsel and generally to the staff of the legal department.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain all legal and customer files in an established filing system including an online tracking system
- Assist with supervising the process of real estate transactions through to completion
- Prepare and present detailed status reports to the Chief Legal Counsel and Director of Administration and Special Projects on a regular basis
- Draft, review and ensure the proper execution of legal documents
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents for review by the Legal Counsel
- Liaise with purchasers, mortgagees, financial institutions, government agencies and external Legal Counsel
- Provide assistance with special projects, initiatives and project management activities
- Attend and participate in exhibitions and trade shows on behalf of Kemtek
- Receive and respond to telephone calls and emails; reply to routine queries and provide frequent updates to customers in a timely manner
- Record accurate messages and expeditiously route enquiries/correspondence assigned to members of the legal department
- Perform other administrative functions and assume responsibilities appropriate to the roles as may arise from time to time to enhance the performance of the legal department

Requirements:
- At least three (3) working experience in a similar position at a legal firm and/or corporate legal department (Real Estate Development experience would be an asset)
- Superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- At least five (5) CXC/GCE O'Level subjects or equivalent qualification including English Language
- Administrative/secretarial qualification from a recognized institution (CPS or Administrative Management certificates)
- Certificate in paralegal studies from a recognized institution would be an asset
- Knowledge of legal principles, concepts, terminology, standard legal forms, procedures and processes
