Duties
The Mail/Pouch Room Clerk position performs mail and pouch functions as well as back-up for the Switch Board Operators. The Mail/Pouch Room Clerk works with the Department of State’s Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) to add/update and dispatch mails and diplomatic pouches, as well as, printing documents e.g. labels and invoices. Incumbent will perform other duties as assigned by the American supervisor.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Two years of mail handling or clerical experience is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of local mail, and international courier service mail regulations and procedures.

Education Requirements:
  • Completion of secondary school is required.

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: English Language (good working knowledge) is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Must be computer literate, email, internet, MS Office, and be familiar with photocopiers. Possession of a valid Jamaican General driver's license is required, will be tested prior to final selection.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Kingston, Jamaica may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
