Systems Administrator (Kingston, Jamaica) - Edge Chem Jamaica Limited


Edge Chem Jamaica Limited is seeking a System Administrator to be primarily responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of our Windows Server Infrastructure and related services.

This position requires knowledge and experience dealing with the implementation and issue resolution of Microsoft Windows Server technologies and services running versions 2008 to 2012. Technologies include Active Directory, SQL Server, llS, and Hyper-V services. It also requires knowledge and experience in Networking (LAN and WAN) and network security.

Job Qualifications

  • BSc or BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, Business Communication or related field is preferred.
  • Technical training/Certifications, or equivalent experience acceptable.
  • At least two (2) years' of: Windows Server (2008 and 2012 R2 ) maintenance, Microsoft SQL Server administration and Networking experience required.
  • Experience with Hyper-V services.
  • Experience with Linux operating Systems.
  • Experience with Android and IOS operating systems.
  • Experience with Productivity software.
  • Strong technical aptitude, problem solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal skills.
Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to the department head for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failure over procedures.
  • Support desktop and help desk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
  • Responsible for maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers and integrate automation processes.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
  • Administer, maintain and support Windows Active Directory, Web Servers, Virtual Machines, SQL Servers and 3rd party applications.
