Job Description
Answering the phones, filing, taking messages.

We are seeking to recruit competent, committed and self-motivated candidates for the post of Telephone Operator:

 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate switchboard equipment to receive, transfer and transmit calls.
  • Answers internal or external calls and make call transfers.
  • As required, takes and relays messages.
  • Direct incoming and outgoing calls to the intended recipient promptly and efficiently
  • Provide information and assistance regarding telephone numbers.
  • Enquire as to the nature of calls in order to refer to appropriate person.
  • Receive and record proper information when transmitting messages to the relevant personnel, both internally and externally.
  • Greet customers, answer questions, announce visitors and provide information and/or directions to customers in a professional, friendly and hospitable manner. 

The ideal candidate should possess the following:
  • HEART Trust NTA/NVQ Certification in Customer Service Level 1 or Business Administration Level 2 or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar capacity; experience in a fast paced environment would be an asset.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite); excellent communication (verbal and written) skills; customer relations, planning, organizing and time management skills.
  • The ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and professional manner; work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Be able to work on Saturdays.
