Technical Support Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA)
The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is a statutory body established under the JACRA Act 2017, and is mandated to provide the regulatory framework for the growing processing, grading and trading of Jamaica's coffee, cocoa and spices industries. JACRA is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Technical Support Officer.
Job Purpose

Join our team at JACRA as a Technical Support Officer, working under the guidance of the Senior IT Specialist/Technical Information Officer. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a robust computing and network environment to support JACRA staff in achieving organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews and site inspections to understand user requirements and infrastructural needs
- Determine and recommend appropriate network infrastructure, computer hardware, software and peripherals
- Ensure servers and network systems are performing at optimal levels
- Install and configure hardware and software, addressing any issues promptly
- Implement measures to minimize security breaches and conduct risk analysis and periodic reviews
- Diagnose and correct hardware problems, ensuring full recovery from breaches or disasters
- Establish telecommunication links as scheduled
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least five (5) years in a networking environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Excellent communication skills for conducting interviews and collaborating with staff
- In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure, computer hardware, software and security protocols
- Ability to conduct risk analysis and implement preventive measures
