Technical Support Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA)

The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is a statutory body established under the JACRA Act 2017, and is mandated to provide the regulatory framework for the growing processing, grading and trading of Jamaica's coffee, cocoa and spices industries. JACRA is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Technical Support Officer.

Job Purpose

Are you passionate about ensuring a secure and efficient computing environment? Join our team at JACRA as a Technical Support Officer, working under the guidance of the Senior IT Specialist/Technical Information Officer. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a robust computing and network environment to support JACRA staff in achieving organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews and site inspections to understand user requirements and infrastructural needs
  • Determine and recommend appropriate network infrastructure, computer hardware, software and peripherals
  • Ensure servers and network systems are performing at optimal levels
  • Install and configure hardware and software, addressing any issues promptly 
  • Implement measures to minimize security breaches and conduct risk analysis and periodic reviews
  • Diagnose and correct hardware problems, ensuring full recovery from breaches or disasters
  • Establish telecommunication links as scheduled

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field
  • At least five (5) years in a networking environment
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills for conducting interviews and collaborating with staff
  • In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure, computer hardware, software and security protocols
  • Ability to conduct risk analysis and implement preventive measures

Our Repair Agent plays a key role in the growth of our organization, by serving as a front-line consultant in a Technical support capacity. Responsibilities
  • Answer customer requests or inquiries concerning services and products and address problem areas.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer impacting issues surrounding their landline/internet and issues that span multiple networks and interdependent network elements, considering network conditions, connectivity, devices, applications, and provisioning.
  • Utilize operational systems to troubleshoot and give step by step processes to assist customers whose services are not working properly (ex. No dial tone/No internet)

      Technical Support/Customer Service Agent (Kingston, Jamaica) - Itelbpo Smart Solutions


      We are looking for persons to join our itelbpo Smart Solutions Family at our Kingston location as Customer Service Representatives!
      • Are you a cooperative and sympathetic listener?

      The Customer Service Representative is responsible for delivering a professional and friendly customer service experience. Ensures customers are satisfied and remain loyal by providing assistance and resolving a wide variety of issues ranging from very technical to basic queries. To remain poised, motivated and enthused about the service you provide.

      FUNdamental Skills
      • Education Preferred passes in Maths and English  at CSEC or equivalent level
      • Excellent communication and active listening skills, including the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English 
      • Computer proficiency, including ability to easily navigate and toggle between multiple screens, talk and type at the same time and troubleshoot basic computer issues
      • Minimum typing speed of 25 to 35 wpm
      • Must be 18 years and older
      • Must possess a valid Jamaican ID (Passport, National ID or Driver's License)
