Technical Support Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA)

The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is a statutory body established under the JACRA Act 2017, and is mandated to provide the regulatory framework for the growing processing, grading and trading of Jamaica's coffee, cocoa and spices industries. JACRA is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Technical Support Officer.

Job Purpose

Are you passionate about ensuring a secure and efficient computing environment? Join our team at JACRA as a Technical Support Officer, working under the guidance of the Senior IT Specialist/Technical Information Officer. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a robust computing and network environment to support JACRA staff in achieving organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews and site inspections to understand user requirements and infrastructural needs
  • Determine and recommend appropriate network infrastructure, computer hardware, software and peripherals
  • Ensure servers and network systems are performing at optimal levels
  • Install and configure hardware and software, addressing any issues promptly 
  • Implement measures to minimize security breaches and conduct risk analysis and periodic reviews
  • Diagnose and correct hardware problems, ensuring full recovery from breaches or disasters
  • Establish telecommunication links as scheduled

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field
  • At least five (5) years in a networking environment
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills for conducting interviews and collaborating with staff
  • In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure, computer hardware, software and security protocols
  • Ability to conduct risk analysis and implement preventive measures

Administrative Assistant (Kingston, Jamaica) - JACRA

 The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is a statutory body established under the JACRA Act 2017, and is mandated to provide the regulatory framework for the the growing processing, grading and trading of Jamaica's coffee, cocoa, coconut and spice industries. ACRA is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the position of: 

 ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Job Purpose

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the provision of general administrative and secretarial support, and for the planning and coordinating of internal and external messages, conferences, workshops and seminars.

There is the requirements to prepare relevant documents and correspondence, and to ensure the efficient flow of information between the office and internal as well as external clients and stakeholders.

Key Outputs:

  • Incoming and outgoing mail recorded, sorted and distributed 
  • Confidential database maintained
  • Confidential mail sorted and handled effectively
  • Meetings and appointments scheduled and diary maintained
  • Telephone answered, calls screened and visitors directed to appropriate officers
  • Internal and external meetings attended and minutes of meetings recorded and reproduced 
  • Reports, papers and briefs composed, collated and submitted
  • Meeting logistics organized
  • Agenda for meetings drafted, documents organized and circulated as directed
  • File movements recorded
  • Circulars distributed
  • Successfully coordinated meetings, seminars, workshops and social events

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • First degree in Public Administration, Public Sector Management, Humanities, Social Science
Or 
  • An Associate degree 
  • At least five (5) years experience in a supervisory position
  • Experience in events planning management
  • Knowledge of Risk Management
  • Supervisory Management Certificate 
  • Diploma in Business Administration
Or
  • Equivalent professional administration qualifications with secretarial skills (Certified Administrative Professional Certificate is a strong asset)
Or
  • Executive Secretary with three (3) years experience in an administrative capacity
