Records Clerk (Kingston, Jamaica) - University Hospital of the West Indies

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Records Clerk (Registry Officer) - PIDG/RIM 1) at the University Hospital of the West Indies.

Salary: $1,439,456 per annum

Summary of Duties:

Under the general direction of the Senior Human Resource Officer - Staffing, the Records Clerk (PIDG/RIM 1) is responsible for:

  • Collecting at the post office all mail addressed to the Hospital
  • Sorting all incoming mail from the post office in preparation for distribution according to destination and type
  • Dispatching outgoing mail in the Registry (when collected by addresses) as well as delivering to departments
  • Examining outgoing mil for appearances and sealing envelopes by hand 
  • Controlling use of the franking machine by advising when to replenish monetary value, etc
  • Computing amount of postage required for outgoing mail according to weight and classification
  • Keeping record of registered mail
  • Entering in the "Value Book" all cheques received by mail and ensuring that they are signed for
  • Operating the petty cash for mailing registered letters, parcels and sending telegrams
  • Returning unclaimed letters to the post office
  • Assisting at times in delivering internal circular letters to wards and Departments
  • Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time

Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • At least five (5) subjects at the CXC General Proficiency/GCE O' levels including English Language and a numeric subject
  • Three (3) years experience in a similar field
