 The Jamaica Constabulary Force welcomes applications from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following positions within the Tranquility Bay Training Facility, St. Elizabeth of the Police Department:

  • Maintenance Supervisor (SOG/ST 3)
  • Head Chef (LMO/TS 4)

1. Maintenance Supervisor (SOG/ST 3)

Job Purpose

The incumbent is responsible for the general maintenance of the facility, cleaning and effecting minor repairs to equipment, fittings, fixtures, electrical components, etc and providing general assistance to staff in the performance of their duties.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Four (4) CXC/GCE 'O' Level subjects including English and a numeric subject
  • Certification in Electronic or equivalent
  • Specialized training in plumbing, masonry and carpentry
  • At least three (3) years experience in a similar capacity
2. Head Chef (LMO/TS 4)

Job Purpose

The Head Chef has the responsibility for preparing, producing and presenting a variety of creative and innovative menu items required for the food service to clients.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Level 2 Certificate of Competence (NCTVET) as chef
  • Four (4) CXC/GCE 'O' Level subjects including English and a numeric subject
  • Two (2) years experience working in a catering establishment
3. Cook (LMO/TS 3)

Job Purpose

The Cook has the responsibility for the preparation and presentation of a variety of meals required for food service to internal clients.

Minimum Required Education & Experience:
  • Level 1 Certificate of Competence (NCTVET
  • Four (4) CXC/GCE 'O' Level subjects including English and a numeric subject
  • One (1) year experience working in a catering establishment
4. Handyman (LMO/TS 2)

Job Purpose

The incumbent is responsible for the general care and maintenance of facilities and equipment, effecting electrical and general repairs and providing office services support as required to ensure smooth operation.

Minimum Required and Experience:

  • Four (4) CXC/GCE 'O' Level subjects including English and a numeric subject
  • Certification in Electronics or equivalent
  • At least one (1) year experience in similar capacity
5. Barber (LMO/TS 3)

Job Purpose

The incumbent is responsible for providing barbering services in accordance with the standard of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Minimum Required and Experience:
  • NVQ Level 2 Barbering or related field

Handyman (LMO/TS 1) - Head Office (Kingston)

Job Summary

Responsible for the general cleanliness of the exterior office surroundings and provides physical support to the department.

Core Duties:

  • Cleans office vehicles (interior and exterior) at least twice per week
  • Assists with the removal of furniture and equipment from one (1) location to the other
  • Assists with the cleanliness of the Canteen (washing utensils/pots, mopping of floor, cleaning equipment)
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
  • Secondary school leaving certificate
  • Training /experience in a skilled area would be an asset
  • One (1) year experience in a similar capacity
Remuneration: $508,663 - $575,505 per annum

Station Attendant/Handy Man (Kingston) - National Irrigation Commission Limited

 Job Summary




Under the direct supervision of the Manager - Administration and Office Services, the Station Attendant/Handy Man provides support for the general daily operational activities and aesthetic maintenance of the compound and exterior environment at the Head Office of the NIC.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the general aesthetics and sanitation of the compound
  • Operate Weed Wacker/lawn mower or any other device that may be required to perform duties
  • Wash motor vehicles operated by the Commission and designated officers
  • Care for trees and plants on the compound
  • Undertake minor maintenance functions to preserve the integrity of the exterior of buildings
  • Assist with operational activities at the location 
  • Transfer items delivered to the designated storage and retrieve items requested from storage
Minimum Requirements:
  • Attainment of grade 9 level of education
  • Ability to read fluently, write legibly and speak clearly
  • Possession of a driver's license would be an asset
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience 
  • Positive attitude and aptitude for learning
