Systems Administrator (Kingston) - Jamaica Teachers' Association


The Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Systems Administrator.

Job Scope/Overview

This is a management position which spans the incumbent's responsibility to the Association.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • BSc degree in Computer Science Information Systems
  • Minimum of five (5) years related experience of which two (2) years should be at the systems administration level, or 
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Installing, configuring and managing the following operations systems
  1. Microsoft Office 2010 - 2016
  2. Microsoft Windows 10, XP and Vista and any other operating systems introduced from time to time
  3. Linux
  4. Upgrading where required, operating systems and existing applications
  5. Implementing data security and integrity procedures on all servers and major systems
Required Competencies:
  • Knowledge of various computer operating systems
  • Knowledge of hardware and cabling structures
  • Knowledge of process for the installation and maintenance of personal computer systems and operating systems
  • Knowledge of networking with wireless security and TCP/IP
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to diagnose and solve computer hardware and software problems

Secretary (Kingston, Jamaica) - Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA)

The Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) is seeking a suitably qualified professional to fill the position of Secretary in the Administration, HRD and Finance Department.

The Professional is expected to:

  • Prepare, type and collate reports
  • Draft, type letters and documents
  • Maintain an effective filing system for correspondence and documents
  • Attend Conferences and workshops
  • Extract data from evaluation forms and make graphical representation
  • Prepare payment vouchers
  • Notify committee members about meetings and prepare documents among other duties
Qualifications and Experience:
  • At least an Associate degree in Business Administration or Secretarial Studies from a recognized institution or qualifications in a related field; Certified Professional Secretary Designation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Suite, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Forms)
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles would be an asset

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to multitask efficiently
  • Have very good interpersonal skills
  • Be confidential
  • Have integrity
  • Be able to work with very little supervision
  • Have analytical skills
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years experience (required)
NB: The individual selected is expected to attend meetings and other job related duties on Saturdays from time to time.

Accounting Clerk - General (Kingston, Jamaica) - Jamaica Teachers' Association

 The Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of:

Accounting Clerk - General

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Under graduate degree in Accounting or ACCA level II
  • Three (3) years accounting experience
  • Experience in using accounting software (ACCPAC) and payroll software (Turbopay)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Analytical Skills
Main Duties:
  • Prepares bank reconciliation statements
  • Verify daily lodgements
  • Prepares GCT return
  • Petty Cash custodian
  • Calculates weekly payroll
  • Prepares audit schedules
  • Analyse selected General Ledger accounts
