Loans Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Grace Co-op Credit Union (GraceKennedy Group)

LOANS OFFICER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the team, you will be assisting the Senior Loans Officer in the effective initiation, generation, management and maintenance of the loan portfolio. Additionally, you will also assist in the planning and co-ordinating of the marketing activities of the Credit Union with a view to meeting its annual growth target.

The primary purpose of the role will be to:
  • Conduct loan interviews and process loan application ensuring that the applicable loan policy is fully understood by all members.
  • Liaise with the General Manager and Credit Committee to obtain approval of loans.
  • Assist members in obtaining loan balances, share balances and general information on products.
  • Ensure that all information for the deduction of shares and loans for weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls are sent to the respective payroll departments in time to meet the specified deadlines(s).
  • Prepare the monthly and fortnightly exception reports.
  • Assist in the coordinating of the Credit Union’s seminars.
  • Assist in the preparation of the delinquency report monthly and follow up for regularization of loans via telephone calls, letters, etc.
  • Prepare Credit Reports for members on their written requests.
  • Prepare all correspondence regarding security for loans and release letters regarding the discharge of securities.
  • Monitor and ensure that the Credit Union’s interest is noted on all securities (Inland Revenue, National Security Interest in Personal Property (NSIPP) and Insurance companies.
  • Ensure that all motor vehicles used as security are insured and that a log is maintained.

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in management studies, accounting or finance.
  • One (1) - three (3) years’ experience in a bank or credit union environment would be an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and possess the ability to work effectively with others.
  • High level of confidentiality, ethics, integrity, creativity, intellectual curiosity, persistence and achievement orientation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to foster good relationships with members, co-workers and company/department heads.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite [EXCEL, Word etc.]

Role Description

Kingston Bookshop Ltd is seeking an Office Attendant for a full-time on-site role located in Kingston. The Office Attendant will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in assigned areas, running errands and performing general clerical duties as required, as well as other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years experience in office housekeeping or office administration is preferred
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment

Accounting Clerk (Kingston, Jamaica) - Kingston Bookshop

 


JOB OBJECTIVE

Responsible for providing support to the accounting function through filing, data entry and the preparation of ad hoc reports.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
  • Reconciles sales lodgements with the bank statements
  • Verifies and enters sales data into the accounting system
  • Prepares statements and reports e.g. cash sales payment entries spreadsheet, as required
  • Records petty cash allocations and reconciles transactions on a weekly basis
  • Assists in entering missing RMS invoices and credit notes into the accounting system
  • Maintains the record-keeping system by sorting and filing documents
  • Enters data into the system e. g. statutory deductions for temporary employees, as required
  • Assists with the preparation of wages for temporary employees
  • Ensures observance and strict adherence to all safety and housekeeping policies and practices.
  • Provides appropriate customer service, internally and externally.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with customers.
  • Performs any other related duty assigned from time to time.
JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCIES
  • Secondary education with passes in at least five (5) CXC subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and Accounting.
Required Experience:
  • Two (2) years of working experience in a similar capacity
Required Competencies:
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems and exercise good judgement
  • Ability to work under pressure and without constant supervision
