 Job Description



The primary responsibility of a Porter is to keep company property in clean and orderly condition. Porters perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, walls and glass as well as maintaining rest room and break room areas. Porters are also responsible to perform routine maintenance activities and notifying management of need for repairs.


The following are a list of tasks generally performed within the Porter position:
  1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  2. Gather and empty trash.
  3. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
  4. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  5. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliances used to ensure that hazards are not created.
  6. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies
  7. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs
  8. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  9. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as meetings.
  10. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  11. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
  12. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  13. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.

Under the direction and supervision of the Retail Supervisor, the Office Attendant is responsible for maintaining a hygienic, hospitable and attractive working environment by keeping the pharmacy clean and tidy.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean, sweep, wipe and polish floors
  • Dust windows, doors, ledges, tables and desks;
  • Cleans and disinfects telephone handsets
  • Dust and properly arrange shelves
  • Cleans and disinfects toilets and replenishes supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels
  • Responds to urgent situations, such as spills, that require quick action

  • Minimum of 3 CXCs inclusive of Mathematics and English or the equivalent

Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Manager, the incumbent ensures that staff at the Institute of Forensic Science and Legal Medicine is provided with a clean working environment in accordance with Public Health requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Managerial/Administrative:
  • Liaises with the Administrative Manager regarding planned activities;
  • Ensures that office furniture and equipment are relocated within the Institute as directed;
  • Ensures the preparation of conference rooms and refreshment for meetings and events;
  • Conducts daily inspection of offices and conference rooms to ensure that they are properly cleaned and dusted;
