Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Branch Operations (Up Park Camp) team in the capacity of:

Teller – Up Park Camp (Contract)
  • Provide professional and attentive service to clients by accurately completing immediate core banking transactions.
  • Take personal accountability for delivering superior client experience including, effective problem resolution.
  • Identify client’s primary needs, look for opportunities to refer clients to the appropriate in-branch sales individual/ alternative channel.

Location: Kingston

As A Teller, you will:
  • Deliver quality client service according to Sagicor Bank Client Service Standards.
  • Assume ownership of client problems at first point of contact.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of all bank’s products and services.
  • Educate clients about appropriate products and services to satisfy needs.
  • Actively market/ promote the Bank’s products & services to obtain referrals.
  • Process all transactions accurately, efficiently and in accordance with guidelines.
  • Perform custodial duties of Vault/ Treasury & ABM.
  • Receive & verify cash from Cash Processing Unit.
  • Prepare cash for shipment to Cash Processing Unit.
  • Replenish/ Balance ABM.
  • Collect excess cash from tellers.
  • Balance vault cash.
  • Image/ Scan processed documents.
  • File processed work and dispatch to Verification Unit.
  • Dispatch managers’ cheque/ drafts to Centralized Reconciliation Unit.
  • Ensure all relevant reports are completed in accordance with guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.
What do you need?
  • Minimum of an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular, Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of teller functions & POCA regulations would be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of Customer Service Principles.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Professionalism in dealing with all clients.
  • High degree of honesty & integrity.
  • Effective Problem-Solving Skills.

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of Teller Supervisor the Teller is accountable for effective, efficient and accurate Teller services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and disburse cash and cheque withdrawals
  • Post receipts and disbursements to members' accounts
  • Interview members for withdrawals and process these withdrawals requests
  • Process all members' transactions, then balance receipts and payments daily
  • Disburse cash loans
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from a tertiary institution in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Training in customer service
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a related position
Specific Knowledge required:
  • Sound knowledge of Emortelle
  • Sound knowledge of Teller Procedure & POCA policy
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good time management skills

Summary
To maintain prompt and efficient customer service through accurate processing of transactions.

Details
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receive cash from customers and credit appropriate accounts and give change where necessary
  • Check signatures and documentation necessary and where satisfactory make in respect of:
  • Cash withdrawals from customers accounts up to allowable limit.
  • Cheque withdrawals from customers’ accounts up to allowable limit.
  • Cheques being cashed up to allowable limit.
  • Freeze all cheques when applicable
  • Prepare STRs and TTRs when required.
  • Validate passbooks or related documents in respect to deposits and withdrawals.
  • Prepare receipts and acknowledgments where applicable.
  • Balance cash daily following the balancing procedure and prepare lodgment.
  • Balance ABM machine when rostered.
  • Ensure that all transaction are intact and sorted.
  • Monitor cash in hand during work day. Transfer excess to Vault Teller or request cash from Vault Teller to satisfy deficiency.
  • Ensure that lodgment and imprest are locked away in the cash safe each day.
  • Responsible for the safe-keeping of the imprest.
  • Hold key to cash pan.
  • Sign local currency cheques up to allowable limit.
  • Hold combination to vault.
  • Sign for remittances received to be processed.
  • Sign and date appropriate stamped section of covering letter/mortgage close from indicating that remittance have been processed.
  • Rotation between areas as the need arises.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Zero to three (0 – 3) years’ working experience.
