An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Administrative Officer in the Land Administration Department at the Williamsfield, Manchester location. 

Under the supervision of the Lands Manager, this position is accountable for:

  • Timely and accurate processing of payment requests for permit clearance compensation
  • Preparing applicable vendor forms and managing the prompt delivery of vendor payments
  • Updating, reconciling and the close out of transactions in Payment Management System
  • Performing general office administrative duties to support the Lands Administration and Subdivision Development teams
  • Using Jamalco Business System to effectively manage the department activities, integrate environment, health and safety in daily work, control costs and promoting teamwork through active participation in the Mining and Quality Improvement Lead Teams

Qualifications and Experience:
To be considered, you must have:
  • A Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Ability to perform multiple, detail-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Qualifications as a Certified Administrative Professional (CPA) would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the mining industry standards, Jamalco Standard Operating Practices and permitting process would be an asset
  • A valid driver's license

Team Leader (Clarendon, Jamaica) - Jamalco

 An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Team Leader to join the Bulk Loading Department at our Rocky Point Port Facility.

Reporting to the Port Production and Maintenance Administrator, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide management of the production activities involved in the off-loading and storage of alumina, and the loading of alumina vessels in order to achieve Port operating targets
  • Provide leadership in the off-loading of oil and caustic ships and the movement of those commodities from the Port to the Refinery in a cost effective manner
  • Minimize operating down time by applying appropriate troubleshooting techniques and corrective actions
  • Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures
  • Monitor, coordinate and maintain conrtol of the Port operating parameters in accordance with the Standard Work Instructions (SWI) and safety work procedures
  • Collaborate with supervision to achieve the department's accountability objectives

Qualifications and Experience:
To be considered you must have:
  • Tertiary entry level qualifications with certified passes in at least five (5) GCE/CXC subjects including Physics/Chemistry, English and Mathematics
  • At least five (5) years bulk loading process experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Project Team Leader



An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Project Team Leader, to join the Capital Expenditure team at the Jamalco, Halse Hall location.

Reporting to the Projects Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and coordinating all project processes from the conceptual stage through to commissioning, handover and closeout and ensuring a smooth transition between all phases of the project.
  • communicating well defined requirements and standards to project team members.
  • Coordinating all Solution Analysis activities to ensure that the best option is selected to deliver as per the Blitz Criteria and to the client's satisfaction and approval.
  • Escalating project issues to the Capital Expenditure Manager or other designated personnel as required, to ensure projects are delivered according to approved scope, cost, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Approving project expenditures to the amount specified in accordance with Jamalco Expenditure Approval guidelines.
  • Coordinating preparation of/preparing Solution Analysis Output and Contract Book during project development.
  • Incorporating environmental, health and safety and integrity principles in project management activities.
  • Reviewing progress of deliverables on a regular basis and advice of any corrective actions that need to be implemented.
  • Scheduling and conducting project team meetings.

Qualification and Experience
To qualify you must have:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, project Management or Construction Management.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in planning and implementing projects in the heavy brown-field industry.
  • Specialized project management training.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated truck record in meeting or exceeding project objectives.
  • Bayer Refining knowledge would be an asset.

Project Cost Controller

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Project Cost Controller to join the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) team at the Jamalco, Halse Hall location.

Under the direction of the Capital Expenditure Manager, this position is accountable for:

  • Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protection fixed assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
  • Evaluating/Approving Purchase Requisitions for all CapEx managed activities (CapEx and OpEx) and Suppliers' invoices for all activities managed by the Capital Department.
  • Preparation of periodic (weekly, monthly, yearly) documentation to include but not limited to journals, project forecasts, expenditure reports, presentations and cash flows.
  • Managing the preparation and dissemination of Owners' project status and performance evaluation by utilizing CWIP Report and other generated Oracle Reports.
  • Monitoring and confirming financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external/internal auditors.
  • Providing project status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting and reporting financial data (Refinery, Port, RSAs and Lands and Mines).
  • Coordinating Post Project Reviews (PPRs).
  • Ensuring that documentation control systems are suitable to allow retrieval of project information during and after projects.

Qualification and Experience

To be considered the incumbent must have:
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a Business discipline.
  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience, preferably in an industry.
  • Knowledge of project and construction management best practices.
  • Ability to identify and work with key management stakeholders to support the delivery of the business needs.
  • Proven communication and presentation skills with the ability to quickly and effectively analyze information received.
  • Extensive business and organization skills, including budgeting, strategic planning, leadership, and business planning and people management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, self-initiative and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Level 2 or 3 training in Microsoft Excel would be an asset.

Area Maintenance Coordinator

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Area Maintenance Coordinator to join the Maintenance Planning Department at Jamalco.

Under the direction of the Maintenance Planning Supervisor, this position is accountable for achieving the following: 

  • Reviewing requested work in the field to ensure that the necessary scope of materials, technical skills, and equipment and safety considerations are incorporated in the detailed planning process to effectively complete the work.
  • Developing the weekly plan and facilitating the weekly planning meetings in accordance with standardized working processes.
  • Tracking, controlling and generating management reports for the cost incurred by the interfaces created from internal and external (Civil, Shops, Stores, Materials and Services Suppliers) requests.
  • Daily management and processing of new work requests and development of work orders in Fusion Maintenance to ensure that corrective action is implemented in accordance with the required priority of repairs.

Qualification and Experience
