Quality/Food Safety Monitor (Kingston, Jamaica) - Honey Bun Limited

JOB SUMMARY

Are you passionate about ensuring top-notch quality and food safety standards? Do you have a hawk-eye for detail and an appetite for excellence? If so, we want YOU to join our dynamic team as our Quality/Food Safety Monitor!

The incumbent is responsible for enforcing compliance with the Food Safety and Quality systems at Honey Bun. These include the prerequisite programs, HACCP, and Safe Quality Food (SQF). The core function is to enforce, maintain and improve the quality assurance system through documentation, audits, and closure of gaps from external and internal audits.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality
  • Conduct in process checks and standardized tests on products and materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Have constant presence during processing to ensure conformity.
  • Monitor product defects and assist in conducting troubleshooting.

Food Safety
  • Conduct internal GMP audits and enforce compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance to Prerequisite programme and HACCP.
  • Conduct environmental swabbing, and testing of raw materials and products.
  • Conduct training of staff
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma in food related science, or similar field or at least three years’ work experience working in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of baking technology
  • Knowledge of HACCP, SQF or FSSC 22000 desirable
  • Working Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Hygiene and Sanitation Principles
  • Knowledge of principles of Food Microbiology.
  • Possess a valid Food Handlers’ Certificate
  • PCQI certification is an asset.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suit in particular Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • This position requires the Quality/Food Safety Monitor to work (but not exclusive to) late evening, night shifts and weekends.

PRODUCTION WORKER

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Worker's primary objective is to ensure that all products being manufactured are in coordination with quality control standards and production operations procedures and ensure output at an efficient level with a predetermined delivery time to the Sales team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To ensure the full manufacturing of products in coordination with quality control standards.
  • Workers should be prepared to be rotated based on scheduling over 3 shifts covering a 24-hour period.
  • The employee may be required to push, pull, carry, and/ or lift up to 100 pounds.
Key Competencies:
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work in a team.
  • Able to follow precise instructions.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • High School Leaving Certificate.
  • Two CXC passes.
  • Baking, Mixing, and Machine Operating skills (would be an asset)
  • Two years’ experience in the food/manufacturing industry.
  • Possession of a valid Food Handlers’ Certificate.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Three shift rotations over a 24-hour period. Saturday and Sunday are mandatory.
  • Work involves physical management (push, pull, carry) and operation of equipment and tools.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud when in the production area.

Reporting to the Sanitation Manager, the Sanitation Worker’s primary objective is to ensure that the facilities are sanitary and obstacle-free and that the environs are in an aesthetically pleasing condition.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To ensure the facilities are sanitary and obstacle-free and that the environs are in an aesthetically pleasing condition.
  • Dispose of waste as necessary.
  • Clean and maintain interior and exterior infrastructures.
  • Clean utensils, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Distribution of chemicals and cleaning supplies.

Key Competencies for both roles (Production & Sanitation Worker):
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work in a team.
  • Able to follow precise instructions.

Human Resource Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Honey Bun Limited



The HR Officer primary duties are to provide support in various Human Resource functions which include but not limited to; payroll, benefits, recruitment, staffing, staff social, training and documentation primarily for outsourced labour contract workers.

He/she will also assist with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the department and will contribute towards the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Participate in the company’s recruitment cycle, sourcing, screening, shortlisting and assessments.
  • Coordinate and deploy orientation and induction programme for all new hires.
  • Coordinate and drive completion of probationary review and employment confirmation.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities.
  • Prepare verification letters for employees.
  • Prepares notices & bulletins and post correspondence on notice boards.
  • Coordinate uniform purchases for all departments.
  • Coordinate various payroll functions.
  • Audit fortnightly payroll invoices as they are received from the labour contract agencies.
  • Maintain employee files and HRIS system by processing all new employees, status changes, department changes, terminations, etc.
  • Manage leave and paid time off programs in the HRIS system.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR related queries/grievances from employees and external partners.
  • Handle additional projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or a related area.
  • Over 3 years’ work experience in a similar capacity in a factory setting.
  • Working knowledge of employee lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of recruitment, assessment and selection theories and best practices.
  • Working Knowledge of Jamaica Labour Laws and Employee Relation Practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with a proven ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good talent sourcing, assessment and selection skills.
  • Very observant with attention to details.
  • Excellent teamwork and coordination skills.
  • Must exercise the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Experience managing employee relations issues from investigation to resolution.
  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal; able to effectively address all levels within the organization.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and general database principles.

Food Safety & Quality Officer (Kingston) - Honey Bun

JOB SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will be required to assist in the maintenance of the Food Safety & Quality System at Honey Bun by ensuring that all products manufactured meet food safety, quality & legal requirements established by local & international regulators (e.g. Ministry of Health, FDA, CFIA). The candidate will be required to identify system gaps and ensure the timely close out of issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • First degree in Food Science or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of HACCP & Internal Auditing
  • PCQI certification desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 desirable
  • Knowledge of sampling techniques & statistical analysis
  • Possess a valid Food Handlers’ Certificate
  • Working Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Hygiene & Sanitation Principles
