Career Service Officer

The Job:

The Career Service Officer is responsible for facilitating the effective and efficient delivery of career services to participants in the parish. The Officer will achieve this by assisting with the implementation of various intervention strategies to include psychosocial, emotional and career development training for the target population and participants. The officer also assists with the planning and staging of career fairs and marketing activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NVQ-J Level 5 Certification or Bachelor's degree in Career Guidance and Counselling/Education or related discipline.
  • At least two (2) years' relevant experience ideally should be gained from an industry/environment similar to what prevails at HEART/NSTA Trust.

Keys Duties:
  • Coordinates the career services offered to participants.
  • Facilitates career policy implementation at the local level/comunity level.
  • Provides career guidance and counselling to participants.
  • Implement employability skills programmes for selected intervention.
  • Conducts preliminary diagnostics and refers participants to different career development opportunities/streams.
  • Works with external stakeholders in advancing the careers of participants.
  • Collates data gathered from interventions including interviews and workshops to inform policy development.
  • Updates and maintains database systems ensuring confidentiality is always maintained.
  • Provides counselling services to target groups and manages information with the highest level of confidentiality.
NB: This is a travelling position and as such, all applicants MUST possess a reliable motor vehicle and a valid drivers' licence.

Head Chef Needed (Kingston, Jamaica)

A growing restaurant in a fast-moving area of Kingston and St. Andrew is recruiting a Head Chef to lead our culinary team. This team member will oversee the daily operations to ensure that we deliver food of the highest quality in safely, taste, and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage performance and provide leadership and guidance to the staff in all operational areas including food preparation, safety, hygiene, and service delivery.
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage to maintain service levels and operational needs.
  • Be vigilant in monitoring customer service to ensure that each customer has a pleasant experience.
  • Provide training and coaching for staff; demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment; be responsible for periodic menu upgrades.

  • Implement cost saving measures and monitor compliance to include food costs, supplies, equipment, and utilities.
  • Take initiative to grow our customer base and increase revenues.
  • Manage inventory to control costs and prevent stock-outs.
  • Demonstrate superior competence in food preparation, cooking, and presentation of a variety of meals for daily servings and special occasions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary certification in Culinary Arts and/or Food and Beverage Management or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years' experience in a similar capacity.
  • Proven management and leadership experiences.
  • Understanding of different culinary profiles and techniques; demonstrating strong technical competence in all aspects of food preparation and presentation.
  • Experience and proficiency in menu planning, costing, Inventory control, and Scheduling.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible days and hours.
  • A valid food handler's permit.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations.
