Job Description

Cashier - Barbican - Waterloo - Kingston, Jamaica


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
  • Ensure outstanding customer service delivery at all times.
  • Answer customers' questions, and provide information on policies and procedures
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
  • Ensure cash line as all the necessary items. E.g. bags, staples, wrapping tapes etc.
  • Assist in the training of new Cashiers as requested
  • Assist in stock taking when necessary and the ordering of goods as requested.
  • Request goods from other location on a weekly basis or as needed to replenish stock.
  • Keep work area stocked with goods.
  • Check for expired goods, re-stock shelves and remove price tags if there is a price change.
  • Receive and process payment by cash and credit cards.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits or cash change to customer.
  • Ensure cash from daily sales are balance at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure float amount is correct at the beginning and end of each shift and that there is adequate change
  • Answer telephone and assist customers with over the phone queries as is possible.
  • Provide product knowledge to customers through the features, values and benefits of each product.
  • Return uncashed items to designated areas.
  • Ensure customers are served their correct purchased item.
  • Provide customers with relevant information about specials and promotions.
  • Introduce new goods and services to customers.
  • Provide rapid response to customer complaints
  • Communicate all discrepancies to relevant manager/supervisors.
  • Direct all queries/ concerns to immediate supervisor first in keeping with the chain of command.
  • Ensure that the checkout section is orderly and secure.
  • Report low stock item of ice-cream, if placed by Scoops department.
  • Ensure that items purchased by customers are in good condition before it leaves the store.
  • Any other duties that have been assigned by managers or supervisors should be performed.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions above, this position may be required to perform a combination of other supportive functions, to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of Fontana Limited.

Other:
  • In order to properly service our clients, you may be required to work outside of our scheduled business hours.

Job Requirement

EXPERIENCE; EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATION:
  • High School Diploma / School Leaving Certificate
  • At least 5 CXC’s inclusive of Mathematics and English Language.
  • Minimum (1) year experience in cashiering in a retail environment.
  • Certificate in Cashiering (a plus)
  • High level of accuracy
  • Strong customer service skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure products are visually appealing and presented according to the Planogram, while also creating and maintaining display materials
  • Merchandise stores are needed, checking that adequate products are regularly available for customers

Job Requirements

  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively both in written and verbal formats

Store Manager (St. James, Jamaica) - Ping's Fabrics

 The Store Manager oversees the day-to-day operations and management of the store. He/she is responsible for ensuring goals, targets and objectives given for location are either met or surpassed and that excellent customer service is delivered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sell products manufactured and/or distributed by PING’S Distributors Ltd to customers.
  • Work closely with customers and identify their needs, create solutions, ensure a smooth sales process.
  • Generate new sales leads, either through business directories, client referrals, social media.
  • Attend monthly sales meetings to review prior month’s performance and becoming involved in future sales plans and follow strategies outlined.
  • Visit customers and introduce the full line of products within the company’s portfolio.
  • Build and maintain customer and employee relationships.
  • Constantly analyze markets to assess the performance of Ping's products

MAIN DUTIES

Cash Management:
  • Security of cash – Observe all points in the Company’s policy on security of cash
  • Operate and maintain a change float: purchasing change from the bank, issuing change to cashiers, daily checking of cashiers’ float.
  • Daily balancing sales and reconciling cash with Z-Tape.
  • Writing sales receipts on a daily basis.
  • Doing lodgement as often as required.
  • Operate and maintain a petty cash float: for the day-to-day expenses, preparing and submitting vouchers to Accounts department for reimbursement.

Stock Management:
  • Ordering of goods: track movement of goods and ensuring timely replenishing of stock.
  • Checking of bins on shop floor on a daily basis for stock quality
  • Having a keen interest in storeroom to monitor stock levels and ensuring proper storage of goods.
  • Maintaining a warehouse ordering system which efficiently records goods running low or out of stock.
  • Writing and submitting to the Warehouse weekly order list of goods needed.
  • Receiving and checking deliveries of goods from the warehouse and ensuring timely distribution of goods to the shop floor. (Must be on the floor within 24 hours)
  • Visits to Warehouse to keep abreast of stock at least once a month.
Personnel Management:
  • Continuous training and supervising the support staff.
  • Maintain proper staff files
  • Uphold discipline and maintain decorum in the store.
  • Ensure staff perform their duties in a timely and efficient manner
  • Make proper documentation of all Disciplinary Procedure.
  • Submit weekly payroll information to Accounts department and preparing salary for staff.
General Managerial Duties:
  • Daily opening and closing of store
  • Ensuring security of customers, staff, goods and cash.
  • Keep abreast with current trends and fashion so as to better able to serve our customers
  • Attend meetings, seminars and training as required.
  • Assist with Stock-taking exercises if required.
  • Analyzing weekly sales and reporting top / poor performers
Other duties
  • Create a schedule and assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the store and facilities.
  • Perform any other duties and/or responsibilities given within the legal framework as Retail Store Manager whether minor, major or incidental tasks related to this portfolio.

Retail Store Manager (Kingston, Jamaica) - Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ)


 The Retail Store Manager for the Kingston retail store is responsible for all aspects of the Kingston store, as well as the CPJMARKET.COM website function of retail sales. The Manager has the leadership and developmental responsibility for the Kingston retail store, including training, coaching and service measurements. The Manager will ensure all focus is on the customer experience and satisfaction through fulfilment of orders both in-store and online.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain appearance of store as well as the quality and variety of the product offerings of the store.
  • Ensure store is fully stocked and displays are appealing. Ensure products are properly stored and rotated to maintain high merchandising standards.
  • Interact with customers both online and in store and build relationships with them while ensuring their needs are being met.
  • Ensure an in person and online exceptional customer experience.

  • Participate in departmental meetings to ensure the team is knowledgeable about the current issues/tasks within the department and create harmonious working environment.

  • Conduct Inventory Audits and develop a cycle count plan, working with Inventory Control to ensure shrink is minimal and inventory is accurately reflected in system. Investigate and explain all discrepancies or variances from audits of inventory.
  • Ensure accurate and timely transfers of inventory to KR from MMDC.
  • Create pricing activities including price changes as required to sell product before expiration date with signage.
  • Execute daily opening and closing procedures per established security guidelines e.g. closing cash pans, and opening and closing entrances and exits. Troubleshoot any issues with daily close out and sales analysis.
  • Make sure delivery service for online orders is effective and timely, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular planning and reviews on store promotions and initiatives with management team.
  • Process time and attendance records for payroll purposes.
  • Conduct performance and disciplinary discussions in the Senior Manager’s absence.
  • Prepare and transmits the daily bookkeeping, invoicing, and requisitions information.
  • Complete daily banking activities in line with CPJ ‘s operational standards
  • Create and distributes rosters to ensure coverage of staff to effectively meet operational demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stock shelves, counters, tables & refrigerators with the product, to promote sales
  • Ensure all shelves & bottles are properly dusted and cleaned to reflect the brands’ image

  • Inspect products for expiration dates
  • Transfers product, from the main warehouse and ensure that all requisite transfers correspond with what is posted to the system

  • Inspects merchandise prior to wrapping to see that it is in satisfactory condition and verifies items with invoiced quantity for all purchases

POINT-OF-SALE RECEPTIONIST (Relief)

Summary:
The POS Receptionist reports to directly to the Retail Operations Manager and is responsible for processing the sale of merchandise in the CPJ Retail Store. The incumbent is also responsible for the managing and tracking inventory. He/She must demonstrate experience and skills in providing excellent customer service, within a fast-paced environment.

Duties and responsibilities may include:
  • Collect cash, checks, and credit card payments from customers
  • Effectively operates a cash register to compute and record total daily sales.
  • Make change accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain cash control over register drawer and verify amounts are correct
  • Inspects merchandise prior to packaging to see that it is in satisfactory condition and verifies items with invoiced quantity for all purchases.
  • Consistently reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items.
  • Verifies all transfers are posted daily to the system.
  • Ensures the processing of goods returned and subsequent credits.
  • Checks and ensures that the lights are switched off.
  • Participates in all inventory counts.
  • Effectively completes all other activities as delegated by the supervising authorities including managing shelves and tracking inventory.

  • Maintain and track inventory
  • Liaise between sales representative and customer for product information
  • Handle/direct customer enquiries/concerns regarding products and order, and follow-up with sales rep where necessary
  • Check batch codes and expiration dates on products
  • Repack unused finished products in boxes and ensure products are stored properly
  • Inspect finished products for defects, take appropriate action, and report
  • Assist with training and coaching of relief merchandisers
  • Ensure that safety, hygiene, sanitation and quality standards are followed in all stores

Qualifications:
