Function:

Processing of invoices and payments. Reconciling of bank statements and other accounting tasks.

About the Company

We are a seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for accuracy to contribute to our company's financial success.

Responsibilities
  • Process a high volume of supplier invoices and payments.
  • Prepare and manage manual check payments.
  • Upload invoices to our banking platform.
  • Record financial transactions in our accounting software (Sage).
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in data entry and accounting software (Sage experience is a plus).
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Operations Officer, Accounts Payables Clerk (Kingston, Jamaica)


A leading financial company with branches island-wide invites applications from Kingston for the following positions:

Operations Officer

  • First degree in Management Studies or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years' experience in a similar capacity.
  • Responsible for efficient operations of branches and provides guidance and directions to Branch Supervisors/Managers.
  • Monitor and track branches' revenue - develop and implement incentive strategies  to increase sales.
  • Conducts periodic branch inspections re-maintenance to include buildings, internal equipment, signage.

Clerical Assistant/Accounts Payable Officer (Contract)

Under the direct supervision of Bursar, the Accounts Payables Officer is responsible for the management of procedures in accounts payable and disbursements, ensuring that:
  • The established systems and procedures for the accounting payables functions are adhered to, by ensuring that all requests are for payments are effected according to the FAA instructions and other established procedures
  • There is timely processing of payables and disbursements
  • All payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements, commute and mileage registers are tracked
Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Prepare payments to the institution's suppliers
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of payables
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of Accounts Payables ledgers and sub ledger
  • Monthly preparation of audit schedules 
  • Arrange journal entries
  • Ensure that all payables transactions including verifying, classifying and recording accounts payable data
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payables principles
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software
  • Diploma in Accounting  from a recognized university or;
  • Associate of Science degree in Accounting, MIND, or Diploma in Government Accounting, MIND i.e. Government Accounting levels 1, 2 and 3

Junior Accounting Payables Clerk (Kingston) - Heart Institute of the Caribbean


Description

Required to enhance reporting requirements in relation to payments and other matters and to ensure that all documents are properly collated for correct payment procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Upload invoices to the account’s payables module
  • Maintain a cheque register for all disbursement to be made
  • Maintain a register for all C.O.D payment
  • Initiate the disbursement process ensuring each payee signs the register for cheque collected
  • Prepare audit schedules for various expense accounts to ensure integrity in the designate accounts for Annual Audits
  • Ensure that all the relevant documents Purchase Requisition/Approval via Email, Purchase Order, Invoices or Pro-forma Invoices are received prior to the processing of payments, sort and file accordingly
  • Maintain a separate utility file for each category for each location
  • Maintain a file for all vendors – (invoices and supporting documents filed) and contracts
  • Ensure that all cheques prepared are photocopied and properly filed in a format and attached by reviewing files and communicating with the other Accounting Clerk
  • Assist with inventory counts
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Senior Accountant and Accountant Payables or Senior management

Minimum

Qualifications:

  • Six (6) passes in CXC or GCE “O” level subjects including a numeric subject and English Language
