Data Entry Clerk (Kingston, Jamaica) - Petrojam Limited

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacancy: DATA ENTRY CLERK.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a combination update database of information for all equipment and machinery located at Petrojam's locations and facilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) CXC/CSEC subjects including Mathematics and English
  • Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Offie Suite applications
  • Knowledge of engineering specifications
  • Basic knowledge of drafting and engineering symbols
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review and verify the accuracy and adequacy of information present on  existing equipment files
  • Gather and collate technical information of equipment at all Petrojam Limited locations
  • Liaise with overseas and local manufacturers of instrumentation and equipment to update missing or incorrect data on existing equipment files
  • Conduct site visits to plants and liaise with members of the Technical, Maintenance, Instrument and Electrical, Loading Rack, Refinery Dock, and Production staff to ascertain changes that have been made to existing equipment and correlate this with information provided in the existing equipment files
  • Modification of engineering data (specifications, cost centre, regarding existing in the System)
  • Conduct data collection, collation and input data on new equipment into the system i.e. creating new equipment with respective specifications, assigned area and cost centre
  • Update and generate catalog codes for new and existing equipment based on Planner's instructions to facilitate data analysis
  • Update activity prices for maintenance skill categories so that costs are established for labour usage

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting various human resource functions and ensuring the smooth operation of HR processes.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • B.Sc. in Human Resources Management or equivalent qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the recruitment process to include posting of internal/external advertisements, preliminary short listing of candidates, administration of screening tests and participation in or scheduling of panel interviews
  • Assists Department in preparation of annual budget 
  • Assists in conducting surveys and research on matters pertaining to the HR function at the request of the Department Manager

Manager (Kingston, Jamaica) - Petrojam Limited

Manager, Strategic Planning and Business Support

The successful candidate will assist the General Manager with achieving sustainable and profitable business operations, by coordinating the development of the company's strategic plan and ensuring its implementation.

To provide support to all departments in the identification and institutionalization of Best Practice within the organization, and monitor compliance with internal and external requirements relating to policy, work flow, procedures, contracts and statutory obligations.

Qualification and Experience

  • Masters of Business Administration or equivalent qualifications.
  • B.Sc. in Engineering, Economics or Management from a recognized University.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience at a managerial level.
  • Minimum of five(5) in the petroleum, manufacturing or mining industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a risk management program for the company. Ensure that it becomes fully institutionalized.
  • Co-ordinate the development of a 5-year strategic plan in consultation with Department Managers. Update annually.
  • Keep abreast of relevant developments in the petroleum and related industries that could impact products, processes or work practices. Ensure that these are taken into consideration in the strategy formation process.
  • Develop/document/review/continuously improve the business processes and procedures for the strategic planning process.
  • Review and monitor the implementation of the Performance incentive System. Publish - performance results via communication platforms and solicit feedback from employees. Coordinate annual management review.
  • In conjunction with the HR department and other Department Managers, conduct resource needs assessment based on the strategic objectives of the organization.
  • Prepares special reports and briefs for International and Government agencies as required.
  • Conduct special studies concerning business operations as required, including financial or economic analyses.
  • Monitor and audit business area to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements relating to policy, work, flow, procedures, contracts, and statutory obligations.
  • Develop a Risk Management program for the company. Ensure that it becomes fully institutionalized.
  • Arrange reviews and documentation of the agreed business processes for each working function. Assist with the organization and implementation of training programs to communicate and reinforce these processes to the related employees.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bsc. Human Resource Management.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administers the recruitment process: to include posting of internal/external advertisements, preliminary short listing of candidates, administration of screening tests and participation in, or scheduling of, panel interviews.
  • Processes all relevant external and internal documentation (e.g. background checks, medical, etc) required to complete the recruitment process
  • Administers the Company loan programs

  • Maintains HRMIS current and effectively utilize the electronic HRM software. Emphasis must be placed on the accuracy of employee biodata and compensation
  • Assists in the computation of Performance incentive payments, prepares and distributes advisory memos
  • Coordinate the Performance Appraisal process which includes meeting with Heads of Departments and monitoring performance appraisal system to ensure that all members of staff are evaluated by their immediate supervisors and that appropriate opportunity for employee feedback is provided
  • Assesses appropriate compensation for new recruits based on qualifications, experience and the need to facilitate performance-driven progression. Prepare offer letters for successful applicants and respond to unsuccessful applicants in a timely manner

Senior Supervisor (Kingston, Jamaica) - Petrojam Limited

Senior Supervisor - Oil Movement and Storage

The successful candidate will be required to provide leadership in overseeing the refinery's Oil Movement and Storage facilities and related activities for the achievement of strategic and tactical targets, in particular, operational, oil loss, safety, environmental and plant availability.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc. Degree or equivalent in Industrial Operations Management, Engineering or Technical Sciences.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of Petroleum Refining experience in Process Operations or Process Engineering.
  • A minimum of five (5) years minimum supervisory experience in a major industrial process refining environment e.g. Petroleum Refining, Bauxite.
 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinate the activities and quality of work for employees and contractors. Rationalize workloads in accordance with strategic programmes and operational priorities.
  • Develop, review, update and/or provide technical/operational input into technical policies, systems, manuals and procedures to guide and inform Oil Movement and Storage operations and management.
  • Ensures marine docks, petroleum storage vessels, pipeline networks, and additive facilities are safe and in good working order for crude and petroleum products to be received, measured, stored, blended and make available at the quality required by customers.
  • Manages the operator inspection programme for in-service storage tanks in accordance with API 650.
  • Leads the execution of petroleum inventory measurement and stock counts in accordance with established procedures and best practices.
  • Ensures timely monitoring and auditing of custody transfer for designated product, stock measurements, and reconciliations. Addresses oil movement and storage related oil losses/gains promptly.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of the Process Safety Management policies, procedures including but not limited to Safe Work Practices, Emergency Response, Management of Change.
  • Leads the procurement of relevant goods and services, evaluates proposals, and manages contracts.
  • Prepares and manages the operating and capital budgets for key aspects of the operations.
  • As a key technical endorser, review and endorse changes, technical designs, site safety plans, procedures, systems etc. to ensure safety/operational/efficiency considerations are incorporated.
  • Provides technical leadership and on-site/offsite support for special 24/7 operational activities, emergency response or special events.

Laboratory Technician (Kingston, Jamaica) - Petrojam Limited

Laboratory Technician

The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of petroleum products and utilities (industrial water) as well as carrying out environment and industrial hygiene checks. These are to be conducted in accordance with industry standards and company policies under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor or his/her senior Technician.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Technology or equivalent. Plus
  • Two (2) years' related experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts all test method procedures with accuracy and efficiency complying with all industry standards. These include petroleum, water, environmental and industrial hygiene samples.
  • Verifies, calibrates and standardizes laboratory equipment and reagents as required.
  • Performs troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment as required and within capabilities. Analytical instruments include but are not limited to infra-red technology, gas chromatography and spectrophotometry.
  • Ensures collection of field samples from prescribed locations on the refinery unit which may include climbing up to 150 feet.
  • Enters accurately all analytical data into a laboratory information management system. Generate and distribute reports to relevant stakeholders on a timely basis.
Competencies
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical ability with attention to detail.
  • Team player who is reliable with a high level of flexibility.
  • Competent in Microsoft office suite.
  • A general driver's license would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation would be an asset
