Duties & Functions:

The Credit Officer is required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner:

  • To market and promote the company’s loan products which includes visits to business places, companies and taxi stands etc.
  • To maintain existing customers and propel the growth of new customers
  • To interview and process loan applicants
  • To ensure that loan applicants meet all the requirements prior to processing
  • To give prospective applicants information regarding the company’s products by phone and in person
  • Maintaining monthly production average in accordance with production target
  • To develop and implement strategies to significantly grow the company’s portfolio at the branch
  • Assist in the design and implementation of marketing plans for the company’s loan product which would include but not limited to: 1. Advertising 2.Promotional activities
  • Review and follow-up delinquent accounts on your loan portfolio
  • To practice proper office hygiene which includes ensuring that the office is kept in a clean and tidy manner
  • Ensure that clients leave a Google review after interaction with the company
  • Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications:

  • GCE 'O' Levels, CSEC or CAPE
  • One (1) to two (2)  years working experience as a Credit/Loan Officer would be an asset

  • Be highly motivated and performance driven
  • Must be analytical and have excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Be able to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • Must be able to communicate well both orally and in writing

The Office of the Human Resources requires the services of a Clerical Assistant 2 who will provide support in facilitating the general day-to-day administrative, clerical and operational tasks related to the successful management of matters regarding employees and other stakeholders within the College Community. This position requires a trainable, highly motivated person who values confidentiality as an integral component of his/her undertaking.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
  • Professional Studies/Certification in Business Administration or related areas from an accredited institution with a foundation of passes in at least five (5) CSEC subjects including Mathematics and English Language
  • Three (3) years of hands-on administrative support experience
  • Competence in organization and prioritization of tasks
  • High level of detail-orientation (frequency in the review of documents)
  • High level of accuracy in work (written samples)
  • Intermediary to expert proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access and Publisher and ability to manouvre the Internet
  • Knowledge of operating standard office equipment

Branch Clerk (Brown's Town & Port Antonio) - Jamaica Teachers' Association Co-op Credit Union

Job Scope


Reporting directly to the Branch Supervisor, the incumbent is required to assist the Branch Supervisor in interviewing members and processing loan applications, as well as posting loans, bank lodgements and disbursement of cheques.

The functions of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Vet applications to ensure they have been accurately completed
  • Assist with the interviewing of members and processing of applications
  • Provide the members with accurate and timely information and advice
  • Promote the products and services of the Credit Union
  • Assist with the preparation of lodgements and receipt payments
  • Assist with the disbursement of cheques and statements to members
  • Assist with the disbursement of ATM cards, Certificates of deposits, Land/Motor Vehicle Titles
  • Assist with the posting of loans 
  • Assist with the recruitment of new members
  • Provide other relevant member services to enhance customer service delivery
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Tertiary certification in Business Administration would be an asset
  • Four (4) CXC or GCE O' level passes including Mathematics and English Language
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar position
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Sound communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to communicate with staff at all levels and customer service oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to be a flexible team player
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, to multitask and cope with changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Maintain high degree of confidentiality
