The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) invites suitably qualified persons to enlist in the JDF as a Professional Entry Officer, to fill the following position:

Caribbean Military Academy

Candidates must meet the following requirements and competencies

Nationality: Be a citizen of the Commonwealth

Minimum Professional and Educational Requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) and/or Certified Accountant (ACCA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA); Master Degree in Accounting or Equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in accounting of which three (3) years' should be at the supervisory level.
  • Experience working with large budgets.
  • Experience working in Finance or Accounting in a higher education institution would be a distinct asset.
Knowledge and Technical Skills
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations; including the Generally accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Excellent knowledge of budget preparations.
  • Good knowledge of audit preparations.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse large amounts of data.
  • Capacity to analyse complex financial situations and develop effective solutions;
  • Ability to understand and effectively navigate the unique financial and operational aspects of a military environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office, accounting software and databases.
  • Ability to direct and supervise staff.
  • A meticulous approach to ensuring precision and completion of financial records.
  • Excellent report preparation and writing skills.
  • Excellent team management and training skills.
  • Competence in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Ability with a diverse community.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Military Standards
  • In addition to the academic qualifications and competencies, candidates must be able to pass the assessment requirements for enlistment in the JDF.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for Schools, Units and Sub-Units of the Caribbean Military Academy (CMA).
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Office.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
  • Manage the accounts of all Schools at the CMA.
  • Monitor and record financial transactions according to JDF policies and regulations.
  • Monitor expenditures, analyze revenues and determine budget variances through coordination with Headquarters Jamaica Defence Force (HQ JDF).
  • Coordinate with external funders to complete assigned accounting tasks, such as course costings and course tuitions.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Ensure adherence to the JDF's internal policies.

Senior Maintenance Technician (Kingston, Jamaica) - Restaurants of Jamaica Limited


Restaurants of Jamaica Limited, operators of the KFC and Pizza Hut brands, seek to employ a suitably qualified Senior Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Availability and flexibility to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to lead a team of technicians while ensuring effective preventative maintenance at locations assigned.
  • A high degree of proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving commercial refrigeration, air-conditioning and heating systems.
  • Ability to accurately read equipment manuals and understand schematic diagrams; and install new equipment for optimum functionality.
  • Working knowledge of electrical maintenance to facilitate effective internal and external lighting systems.
  • Sound understanding of occupational health and safety standards for restaurants and maintenance of the environment.
  • Excellent problem solving troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning with a minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Senior Maintenance Technician in a fast-paced environment, preferably the restaurant business.

On April 1, 2019, the Public Procurement Act came into effect establishing the Public Procurement Commission (PPC) as a Public Body Corporate replacing the National Contracts Commission.

The PPC has responsibility for endorsing recommendations for the award of Government Contracts, making recommendations to Cabinet for the award of Government Contracts, as well as registering companies/business desirous of participating in the Government of Jamaica Procurement processes.

The PPC invites applications from suitably qualified professionals to fill the following positions at our location in Kingston:

Salary Range: $9,401,821.00 - $12,644,404.00 per annum.

Job Summary and Scope:

The Executive Director (ED) leads the management of the PPC in discharging its functions as the country's main public procurement oversight body to ensure, among other things, prudence in the use of public funds and efficiency and integrity in the public procurement process.

The ED, under the direction of the PPC Board of Commissioners, is required to provide strategic and operational leadership to the management and staff of the Commission, interpret policy directives and establish an organisational framework that enables the effective discharge of the functions of the Commission as set out in the Public Procurement Acts.

As head of a public body, the ED is guided by a broad policy framework as established by the Government of Jamaica including the Public Procurement Act 2015, the Public Procurement (Amendment) Act 2018 and Regulations, the Public Bodies Management and Accountability Act, the Financial Accounting and Audit Act as well as operational policies established by the Board of Commissioners.
