Mother's Jamaica needs Lead Cooks (Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Jamaica)

We are expanding our operations and are seeking proficient individuals to join our Canteen Division as LEAD COOKS. The successful candidates should be flexible, creative, be able to work on their own initiative and be able to meet deadlines stipulated by the company.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that standards and specifications for the preparation of specific menu items stipulated by the company are adhered to at all times.
  • Minimize waste and spoilage by monitoring production of menu items and following standardized recipes.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to achieve specified sales and profit targets.
  • Ensure that all health, safety and food hygiene requirements are met.

Required Skills:
  • Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques.
  • Knowledge of good sanitation and hygiene practices.
  • Good communication and people relations skills.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Qualification and Experience
  • NVQ-J Level II Certification in Food Preparation from HEART Trust NSTA or a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a high volume and quality food production environment.
  • Four (4) CXC subjects including Mathematics/Accounts and English Language or equivalent qualification.
  • Note: Relevant certification is required

Accounting Clerk (Kingston, Jamaica) - Mother's Enterprise

We are looking for a bright, energetic, ambitious individual to fill the role of Accounting Clerk. The successful candidate will undertake a variety of activities, ranging from records management, data entry and entry level accounting. The ideal candidate should also be familiar with office equipment and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of assigned expense schedules.
  • Undertake data entry tasks.
  • Spot check and stock count audit of assigned locations.
  • Maintain files and records so they remain up to date and easily accessible.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Five (5) CXC subjects including English, Mathematics and Accounts or CAT level 1.
  • At least 1 year experience in an accounting environment.
  • Working knowledge of Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Experience in inventory and basic accounting would be an asset.
Physical Demands:
  • Being able to work extended hours and on weekends as the need arises.

Restaurant Supervisor (Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica) Mother's


We are looking for bright, energetic, ambitious persons to fill management and supervisory position at our Mandeville location.

Applicants must be able to:
  • Manage all aspects of restaurants operations

Maintenance Manager (Kingston, Jamaica) - Mother's

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Senior Management team as a Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate should be innovative, performance-driven and have a record of achievement in effective leadership in order to meet the objectives of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, implement and manage company-wide maintenance program, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain, control and monitor the use and inventions of spare parts, tools, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiate reordering when necessary
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving operations and solving maintenance related problems in factory and all locations island-wide
  • Manage capital projects
  • Manage a team of technicians and contractors to achieve efficiency in repairs

Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Operations Management
  • Minimum of five (5) years managerial experience in a manufacturing or service industry
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and general equipment/machinery operations
  • Possess track record in service management
  • Demonstrated negotiation and implementation skills
Experience in an ISO 9001:2008 environment or company with multiple locations will be a distinct advantage.

Production Supervisor (Kingston) - Mother's


The successful candidate should be an innovative, performance driven individual who displays effective team building and leadership skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To verify control balances for kitchen, pre-portion, patty and ice cream departments
  • To check weights of patties in production
  • Ensure that all trolleys have the correct quantities of patties before transfer to the warehouse
  • Working along with the Production Manager, interprets company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
  • Oversee production activities in assigned areas
  • Train staff in assigned area(s) in use of equipment and production processes
  • Deputize for Production Manager where appropriate
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
  • Enforce the use of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and safety regulation
Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Sound knowledge of production operations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
