Electrical Engineer

Job Purpose

Responsibility to develop, implement and monitor the preventive maintenance and repair programs for the company's electrical, metering and protection systems. This includes 69kv substation, 13.8kv substation (transformer yards), electrical projects, buildings, generators, light pylons, associated distribution and transmission cables, switch gears, relays, horn pits and reefers. Key responsibilities include preparing bid documents, tender evaluation reports, bill of quantities, drawings for all projects.

Job Requirements and Specifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • PMP or other Project Management certification
  • Minimum five (5) years' working experience in an industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of techniques and methods employed in the maintenance of medium voltage/high voltage switch gear equipment, transformers, standby generator plants, feeder management relays etc.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant electrical/electronic engineering systems which include electrical circuits, PLC, control relays and fault diagnostic systems and HV power transmission.
  • Sound knowledge of Jamaica Electrical Standard, Jamaica Public Service supply and distribution system, Jamaica Public Service substation layout and operational procedures
  • Ability to prepare and interpret technical Drawing/sketches.

Project Engineer (Kingston, Jamaica)


The Project Engineer/Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and closure of projects within budget and on schedule. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, managing third-party contractors, and ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of engineering expertise and project management skills to drive project success.

Responsibilities:

  • Create/review MEP designs and other project documents.
  • Responsible for on-site coordination by providing required documentation and following up with subcontractors and staff on site.
  • Responsible for preparing, submitting, and tracking submittals.
  • Confirm that submittals are created and approved based on the specifications and drawings.
  • Coordinate material delivery by analyzing the project schedule and the required installation dates.
  • Create, review, and process Request for Information (RFI)
  • Responsible for the close-out process, including managing punch lists, collecting and organizing all the required documentation e.g. manuals and certifications.

Specific Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial.
  • Minimum three (3) years' active experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing high-value projects.
  • Demonstrate a high level of functionality and competence in communication and client engagement.
  • Sound knowledge of local regulatory framework as well as standards, codes and best practices (multi-disciplined).
  • Sound knowledge of project management.
  • Sound knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Projects.
  • Proven leadership skills.
