Investment Officer

Core Functions

Reporting to the Manager - Finance and Treasury the incumbent is responsible for the management of the Credit Union's investment portfolio; assists with devising strategies for growth; recognizes and avoids serious risks, and acts the liaison Officer for the Credit Union's investment activities. The incumbent is also responsible for introducing and recommending integrated wealth planning solutions to members of the Credit Union in keeping with the wealth management strategies and in compliance with all financial regulatory requirements.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Credit Union's investment portfolio while effectively maintaining portfolio developments.
  • Responsible for providing clear and well-informed investment recommendations based on thorough research and analysis.
  • Perform regular administration duties for all investment products.
  • Provide regular investment reports and reviews on the investment portfolio including quantitative and qualitative portfolio studies.
  • Prepare accounting and other required reports and projections based on the analysis performed.
  • Identify financial performance trends and financial risks and make sound recommendations.

Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or equivalent qualification from an accredited educational institution.
  • Certificate in Financial Security Management (would be an asset).
  • A minimum of two (2) years' progressive experience in a similar position, preferably in a financial environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and dependability.

Job Purpose

The incumbent will assist individuals in achieving more effective personal, social, educational and vocational development and adjustment.

Key Responsibility Areas:

Technical/Professional Responsibilities

  • Collects information about clients, using interviews, case histories, observational techniques and other assessment methods.
  • Assists clients to understand personal or interactive problems, defines goals and develops realistic action plans.
  • Develops therapeutic treatment plans based on individual interest, abilities and needs of clients.
  • Selects, administers or interprets psychological tests to assess intelligence, aptitude, ability or interests.
  • Analyzes data, such as interview notes, test results and reference manuals and texts to identify symptoms and diagnose the nature of the clients' problems.
  • Maintains client documentation and records to reflect care provided and meet professional standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client records.
  •  Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  • Counsels and support caregivers.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Performs other related functions assigned  from time to time by the Paramedical Director.
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Counselling/Clinical Psychology
  • Two (2) years' experience in an adult patient/client setting.

Assistant Bursar (EIGS/BR1)

Core Functions:

  • To assist with the financial and accounting affairs of the institution in a prudent manner in keeping with the Government's fiscal provisions.
  • To provide accurate and timely financial information for the Bursar.
  • To assist with administering the financial resources of the institution in accordance with Government regulations and the provisions of the Financial Administration and Auditing Act.
Minimum Requirements:
Specific knowledge required:
  • Knowledge of FAA Act/regulation/instruction and Government of Jamaica Procurement Procedure.
  • Knowledge of Generally Acceptable Accounting Practice.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office operations and selected  accounting software.
  • Knowledge of electronic banking techniques.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Successful completion of the AAT - Technician Stage/ACCA Level 1 and one (1) year experience in Government Accounting or other relevant experience.
  • Training in Government Procurement Guidelines would be an asset.
