Laboratory Technician

The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of petroleum products and utilities (industrial water) as well as carrying out environment and industrial hygiene checks. These are to be conducted in accordance with industry standards and company policies under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor or his/her senior Technician.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Technology or equivalent. Plus
  • Two (2) years' related experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts all test method procedures with accuracy and efficiency complying with all industry standards. These include petroleum, water, environmental and industrial hygiene samples.
  • Verifies, calibrates and standardizes laboratory equipment and reagents as required.
  • Performs troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment as required and within capabilities. Analytical instruments include but are not limited to infra-red technology, gas chromatography and spectrophotometry.
  • Ensures collection of field samples from prescribed locations on the refinery unit which may include climbing up to 150 feet.
  • Enters accurately all analytical data into a laboratory information management system. Generate and distribute reports to relevant stakeholders on a timely basis.

  • Analytical ability with attention to detail.
  • Team player who is reliable with a high level of flexibility.
  • Competent in Microsoft office suite.
  • A general driver's license would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation would be an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 standard would be an asset.

Sales Representative, Inventory Control Officer Needed (Kingston, Jamaica)

 A private company in Kingston is seeking to fill two (2) positions of a Sales Representative and an Inventory Control Officer (Kingston-based).

Sales Representative

Charged with the responsibility of soliciting business in the Company's behalf, the sales representative will engage potential and existing customers using effective communication, good listening, product and price negotiation skills.

Job Specification and Qualification:

  • Must be willing to provide a police record and willing to undergo a background check.

 Inventory Control Officer (ICO)

Will be responsible for monitoring, developing, analyzing and improving the Company's inventory management systems. This role requires in depth knowledge of inventory management systems, IT skills and expertise in the logistical and supply-chain management systems.

  • Highly meticulous with keen attention to detail.
  • Analytical and data-driven.
  • Extremely organized.
  • Forecasting skills and being able to analyze trends.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Administratively sound.
  • Must be informed with industry and worldwide trends (to take advantage of economic situations).

  • Expertise in logistics and supply-chain management.

  • A team player with problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply-Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Must be tech-savvy.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' of experience in inventory control would be an asset or in retail, warehousing, logistics, or similar.
  • Excellent knowledge of inventory management software such as NetSuite, Fishbowl, and Zoho Inventory or any related system would be a strong asset.
