 Overview: A Company in the Petroleum Industry invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions stated below:

1. Receptionist/Telephone Operator 

The incumbent is responsible for the smooth operation of the front desk and provision of effective supervision of the messengers.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Four (4) CXC/GCE O' level subjects at general proficiency level, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Three (3) to four (4) years of customer service experience, preferably in a call center 
  • Must be computer literate
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
  • Customer service orientation - be warm, personable, courteous, and solutions-focused

2. Customer Service Representative

The incumbent is responsible for the after-sale customer service. He/She also assists the Marketing Officers by undertaking market research and promotional activities.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Diploma or Associate degree in Marketing, Management Studies or equivalent qualifications
  • Four (4) years of customer service and marketing experience, preferably in a call center, with at least one (1) year in the petroleum industry
  • Must be computer literate with basic PC keyboarding skills; basic Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) experience required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
  • Customer service orientation - be warm, personable, courteous, and solutions-focused 
  • Good typing skills - minimum of 35 wpm with minimum 80 % accuracy
3. Draftsman/QS

The incumbent is responsible for planning, designing and executing new business projects and overseeing existing projects. If you are looking for an exciting place of work, please take a look at the list of qualifications below:

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Architecture
  • Proven experience in managing all projects from inception to completion
  • Ability to interpret, understand and organize construction and building plans and specifications

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Team Leader, Biotechnology in our Product Research and Development Division.


Team Leader Biotechnology

The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, organizing and coordination of all activities of the Biotechnology Department in support of the Council's mission and strategic objectives. This position is also responsible for providing sound technical supervision of the team in ensuring optimum performance of the Department.

Education Requirement:

  • PHD in Plant Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Horticulture or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in preparing Technical Publications and reports.
  • Proficiency in competitive research Grant Writing and Project Management Experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in leading and managing research activities in Plant Tissue Culture/Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Horticulture/Agricultural production systems or other related field.
  • Commercial plant tissue culture production.

Required Skills and Specialized Techniques:
  • Good leadership skills.
  • The ability to perform effectively in a multidisciplinary Science and Technology-related environment.
  • The ability to build and retrain a vibrant and accessible Research and Development network.
  • Excellent skills in experimental designs, planning and execution of R and D projects, Data analysis and scientific reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans and directs all aspects of R&D and plant production activities in the Biotechnology Department, including but not limited to project planning and management consumables and equipment inventory management and laboratory operations.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of research projects in keeping with the national, industry and the Council's research and development plans.
  • Prepares and submits technical manuscripts from work executed or reviews articles in international referred journals or books.
  • Acquires information on current trends and relevant new techniques in analysis and metrology.
  • Represent the Council at national, regional and international events, meetings and seminars.

Camp Counselor (Trelawny & St. Ann, Jamaica) - HEART/N.S.T.A Trust

The HEART/ National Service Training Agency Trust (HEART/NSTA Trust), a statutory Organisation mandated to co-ordinate and facilitate the training, assessment and certification of the Jamaica workforce to International standards, invites applications for the position of:

Camp Counsellor (eight (8) weeks contract, four (4) positions)

HOPE/NACP Residential Camp

Trelawny and St. Ann

The Camp Counselor is responsible for implementing the counselling programme to enhance the vocational selection, personal and social development of trainees.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NVQ-J Level 5 Certification, Bachelors Degree or equivalent disciplines such as: Career Development/Counselling, Social Work, Workplace Training and Industrial/Counselling Psychology, Human Resource (HR) Development and Industrial Training any other related disciplines.
  • At least three (3) years' relevant experience work experience in a comparable position or business/work environment such as: HR Division of any large Organization, a major employment bureau, a tertiary TVET Institution, an employer Polytechnic/University Career Placement Department or a Ministry of Labour Department.

Key Duties:
  • Provides guidance for trainees on matters involving educational, vocational, or personal/social problems.
  • Conducts individual and group counselling and makes referral to external agencies where necessary.
  • Evaluates and conducts appropriate counselling for poor performers or underachievers.
  • Develops and administers programme for employability skills.
  • Conduct dorm visits as necessary.
  • Develops appropriate counselling strategies and methods to enhance learning.
  • Assists with planning  and coordinating career expositions, job fairs, workshops and field trips to help trainees gain insight and employment within their chosen career.
  • Plans and coordinates job readiness programme to prepare trainees for the work of work.
  • Maintains records of trainees' attendance to the scheduled sessions.
