Asset Management Accountant (Manchester, Jamaica) - Rusal Windalco

Asset Management Accountant in the Finance Department at Kirkvine Works, Manchester

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that accounting records including the General Ledger and Sub-Ledgers are correctly and properly maintained in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Accounting Requirements and Corporate Policies.
  • Carry out procedures for effective asset life cycle management ie. aquisition, utilization, reallocation and disposal of all Company assets.
  • Accurate and timely preparation of Monthly Management and other related reports (e.g. inventory statistics).
  • Prepare monthly bank and inventory reconciliations, report reconciling items and any anomalies and prepare/propose corrective entries.
  • Participate in the physical verification of all Company assets.
  • Investigate and report on the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
  • Perform administrative functions as secretary of the Inventory Committee, including the scheduling of meetings and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accounting controls by updating Standard Practice Instructions (SPIs) related to his/her functions.
  • Liaise and interact with external auditors, tax authorities and other regulatory bodies.

Candidates should have:
  • ACCA/CPA Certification or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years' proven accounting experience. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and particularly in Excel at the intermediate level.
The position calls for an individual with strong analytical skills, good oral and written communication skills, and excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should also process strong problem solving and conceptual thinking skills with an attention to detail and accuracy, and must be able to work effectively in cross-functional groups within tight deadlines.

Responsibilities Summary:

  • Must be able to identify and document existing work flows and processes as well as create new and innovative business processes to support the growth of the division.
  • To be versatile in working with analytical and empirical data, plans and reports and be versed at using intuitive and systematic approaches for handling day to day operational tasks.
Qualifications, skills and role competencies:
  • First degree in Business Administration, Management or related disciplines.
  • Must be at least twenty five (25) years old with minimum two (2) years relevant working experiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the copyright field are an advantage.
  • Highly numerate and IT literate (advanced MS Excel a plus).
  • Able to communicate effectively with supervisors and management.
  • Able to work autonomously and within the team environment.

Quality Coordinator (Kingston, Jamaica)

A leading manufacturing company is seeking a suitably qualified candidate to fill the following position:

Quality Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Quality Coordinator will develop and oversee all of the food safety regulations, policies and procedures including HACCP for the Company.
  • Develop quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analysis; identifying critical control points and preventative measures; conduct trend analysis of non-conformities and deviations; manage corrective action system; manage the recall system; food fraud prevention programme and crisis management programme.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as SOP's and quality manual.
  • Ensure audit compliance and manage the annual audit programme (schedules, planning, execution and reporting).

Qualification and Experience:

  • Tertiary Level Education in one of the following industry related fields: chemistry, management, industrial engineering, industrial technology, or certification in a quality management system.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' in the field of manufacturing and quality control.
  • Training in HACCP
  • Previous experience in a Food/Distribution operation would be an asset.
  • A motor vehicle would be an asset.
