Asset Management Accountant in the Finance Department at Kirkvine Works, Manchester
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Ensure that accounting records including the General Ledger and Sub-Ledgers are correctly and properly maintained in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Accounting Requirements and Corporate Policies.
- Carry out procedures for effective asset life cycle management ie. aquisition, utilization, reallocation and disposal of all Company assets.
- Accurate and timely preparation of Monthly Management and other related reports (e.g. inventory statistics).
- Prepare monthly bank and inventory reconciliations, report reconciling items and any anomalies and prepare/propose corrective entries.
- Participate in the physical verification of all Company assets.
- Investigate and report on the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
- Perform administrative functions as secretary of the Inventory Committee, including the scheduling of meetings and follow-up actions.
- Maintain accounting controls by updating Standard Practice Instructions (SPIs) related to his/her functions.
- Liaise and interact with external auditors, tax authorities and other regulatory bodies.
Candidates should have:
- ACCA/CPA Certification or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years' proven accounting experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and particularly in Excel at the intermediate level.
The position calls for an individual with strong analytical skills, good oral and written communication skills, and excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should also process strong problem solving and conceptual thinking skills with an attention to detail and accuracy, and must be able to work effectively in cross-functional groups within tight deadlines.
