Electrical & Mechanical Supervisor (Kingston, Jamaica) - The National Works Agency

 


The National Works Agency of the Government of Jamaica is seeking suitably qualified individuals for the undermentioned position:

Electrical & Mechanical Supervisor (Level 5)

Qualification and Requirements:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 
  • Five (5) years experience in a similar post with at least three (3) years in a supervisory position
  • Possess a reliable motor vehicle
  • Possess a valid driver's licence
  • Knowledge of government procurement procedures
Reporting Relationship:

Reports to: Manager, Property Estate

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Carry out preventative, planned maintenance program and undertake routine inspections of premises, fixtures, fittings and utility meters island wide
  • Prepare bills of quantities, estimates for repairs/spares and monthly reports
  • Provide technical advice on electrical repairs and maintenance across NWA buildings and properties
  • Supervise artisans and helpers and allocate work among staff
  • Diagnose faults and provide guidance for artisans
  • Review performance of contractors and make recommendations 
  • Assess invoices submitted by suppliers and contractors
  • Ensure proper engineering standards and quality of work 
  • Appraise subordinates
  • Perform periodic inspection of NWA electrical and mechanical installations
  • Supervise preventative maintenance programme

The CHASE Fund is an agency of the Government of Jamaica providing funding support to projects in Culture, Health, Arts and Early Childhood Education.

The Fund invites applications to fill the position of: Executive Assistant

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Assistant undertakes general administrative work related to the Executive Office.

Duties and Responsibilities of  the Job:

  • Performs a wide variety of complex, responsible, and confidential secretarial and administrative duties for the CEO, including view and analysis of reports and documents.
  • Makes appointments and maintains CEO diary, schedules and arranges meetings and makes travel arrangements.
  • Liaises with Directors of the Board, senior executives and staff to ensure that assignments, directives from the Board and concerns are addressed.
  • Records and procedures minutes for Sub-Committee/Board of Directors meetings.
  • Receives and screens visitors, telephone calls, e-mails, and faxes providing information and resolving issues which regularly require the use of good judgment and the interpretation of policies and procedures.
Key Competencies:
  •  Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Candidate should be a Certified Professional Secretary with a University Degree in Business Administration or related discipline.
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience in a similar position.
