Planning Technologist (Level 4)

Qualification and Experience:-

  • Diploma in Urban/Physical Planning, Geography or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years' experience in a planning environment.
Skill Requirements:-
  • Sound knowledge of research methodologies, survey techniques and statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of physical planning techniques
  • Oral and written communication skills.

Reporting Relationship
  • Reports to: Physical Planner
Highlight of Job Functions:-
  • Assess applications for development approvals.
  • Process applications for the erection of private advertising structures, along with the Data Analyst, set up and monitor a database of facilities at all intersections and along roadway segments, and periodically update information.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints.
  • Prepare/recommend layout of projected traffic flow and circulation patterns for traffic management projects.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Research Managers in developing long-term road network plans.
  • Represent the Agency at the assigned Planning/Development committee.

The Board of Management of Thompson Town High School Invites applications for the post of 

Principal 

The successful candidate will be required to:

Provide strong leadership for a progressing secondary school by:

  • Providing transformational leadership.
  • Participating in the development of strategic plans for the school and leading in their implementation.
  • Providing a strong team ethos, motivation and collaboration to all staff, students and parents.
  • Adhering to the Education Act/Code of Regulation, the FAA Act and other laws governing the management of public educational institutions.
  • Developing and maintaining associated activities to provide a rounded educational experience for students.
  • Energizing and working closely with major stakeholders to achieve the school's goals.
  • Making recommendations to the Board of Management on policy directions to be followed.
Required Qualifications
  • A trained graduate, with a Bachelor's Degree qualification in Education or its equivalent.
  • A trained Teacher's Diploma or Diploma in Education.
  • National College of Educational Leadership (NCEL) training would be an asset.
  • A post-graduate degree would also be an asset (Master's or Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership or any other appropriate disciple) 
  • At least five (5) years' experience as a teacher - with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.

Legal Secretary (Kingston, Jamaica) - Administrator-General's Department

 Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position: 

Legal Secretary - Grade 4

Salary range: $1,119,548 - $2,024,496 per annum plus any allowances attached to the post.

Job Purpose:

To provide secretarial and administrative support to the Senior Legal Executive and the Legal Services Section.

Technical/Professional Responsibilities:

  • Creates Instruments of Administration, Instruments of Distribution and Letters of Administration for filing to the Administrator-General or Court
  • Updates databases in the Section regarding the progress of applications for instruments of Administration, Instruments of Division, Letters of Administration and rent arrears matters
  • Types and prepares legal documents, correspondence, reports and minutes for the Senior Legal Executive and Attorneys within the stipulated timeframes
  • Prepares agendas for meetings and circulates within stipulated timeframe
  • Maintains diary of court matters for the Senior Legal Executive and Attorneys
  • Retrieves and passes all files for court to Senior Legal Executive and Attorneys at least one (1) week before the scheduled court date
  • Ensures that the legal responsibilities of rent arrears portfolio are managed and timeframes adhered to
  • Organises client meetings and conferences and prepares relevant documents
  • Screens and routes telephone calls to Senior Legal Executive and Attorneys at least one (1) week before scheduled court date
  • Responds to requests made by the Courts, the Registrar of Titles, and Stamp Office as directed
  • Responds to routine enquiries and correspondence in accordance with guidelines given
  • Interfaces with private Attorneys-at-law and members of the public seeking audience with the Senior Legal Executive  and Attorneys; deals with matters within given authority 
  • Establishes and maintains an efficient filing and record keeping system for the Section
  • Records the movement of files between Sections and on return to the Registry
  • Assists in the preparation and collation of standard monthly and quarterly reports

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Paralegal diploma or related qualifications
  • Secretarial certification
  • Two (2) years work experience in an office environment
