Job Description

The Machinist would be responsible for the assembling, fabricating and modification of components and equipment as well as monitoring the mills for information on the status of rolls and spare parts.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • A Diploma in Mechanical Maintenance or Engineering
  • At least 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced Fabricating & Component Design Skills
  • Ability to operate manual and computer controlled machinery
  • Competence in the operation of machine tools such as: milling machines, lathes, grinders, benders, hydraulic and drill presses
  • Sound knowledge of machine tolerance and fits
  • Competence in the use of metrology tools for accurate and precise measurements
  • Well-developed knowledge of metallurgy and material science
  • High level of Safety Awareness
  • Experience in shaping steel, aluminum, Teflon, plastics and other materials
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work on rotating shifts, overtime and on-call
This position will require standing and walking for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, working within close confined spaces with tools in a hot and dusty environment with constant exposure to manufacturing areas.

Job Description

Jamaica Flour Mills Limited is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the role of FORKLIFT OPERATOR at its depot located in Montego Bay, St. James.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • A minimum of a high school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift operation certification, plus 5 years’ operating experience.
  • Prior warehouse experience would be an asset
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • Basic mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Basic understanding of ISO, HACCP, GMP and environmental standards
  • A high level of initiative, integrity and motivation.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively in a team setting
  • A high level of safety awareness.
