The incumbent will be required to utilize tractors equipped to move products and other items around the facility in a safe and appropriate manner. Responsibilities include the loading and unloading of trucks, supporting control with inventory documentation and full adherence to safety compliance regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Operating heavy duty equipment
• Assist with the cleaning of vessels and wharf area.
• Manually load and unload materials from pallets, etc.
• Follow all workplaces safety policies and compliance regulations
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
• Diagnose, identify defects in heavy duty equipment / forklift
• Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading team as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
• Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

• High School Diploma or Certificate
• At least 5 CXC or GCE subjects including Mathematics and English Language
• training certificate from a recognized institution
• At least 2 years’ experience as heavy duty equipment operator
• Knowledge of heavy duty equipment safety
• Possess a valid open Driver’s License
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to stay calm and work well under pressure.

Tractor Driver/Farm Assistant

Responsibilities

• Driving Tractors, completing maintenance duties, using farm implements to plow, plant, harvest and spray crops, and more.
• Operating general farm machinery, equipment and tools and keeping them in working order.
• Harvest and inspect crops by hand.
• Irrigate farm soil and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps.
• Planting, and hand weeding.
• Move shrubs, plants, and trees with wheelbarrows or tractors.
• Planting, spraying, collecting, storing and warehousing agricultural products.
• Collecting samples of crops, soil and water.
• Help with processing activities.

Requirements

• Diploma and certificate in General Agriculture from a recognized agricultural institution, for example HEART.
• Experience operating a farm tractor and implements.
• Must be physically capable of working long days and lifting 50+ lbs.
•  Safely and skillfully operating tractors and farm equipment.
• Special attributes: Industrious, courteous, honest, punctual and reliable, able to work in your feet in the sun and use basic farm tools.

Farm Assistant

Responsibilities

• Main Objectives/Core Functions of Position: manual labour.
• Assist tractor operator, land clearing and preparation, planting, cultivation, harvesting and processing of harvested crops.
• General maintenance of the farm includes landscaping.
• Operating general farm machinery, equipment and tools and keeping them in working order.
• Harvest and inspect crops by hand.
• Irrigate farm soil and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps.
• Planting and hand weeding.
• Move shrubs, plants, and trees with wheelbarrows.
• Planting, spraying, collecting, storing and warehousing agricultural products.
• Assist with any other task as required.

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications required: High School Education.
• Experience required: two (2) years' in a similar environment.
• Special attributes: Industrious, courteous, honest, punctual and reliable, able to work on your feet in the sun and use basic farm tools.
• Graduating from an agricultural high school/training programme would be an asset.
