Sanitation Officers, Sweepers, etc (Montego Bay, Jamaica) - WPM Waste Management


The National Solid Waste Management (NSWMA) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the positions at WPM Waste Management

Truck Drivers

The Driver reports directly to the Public Cleansing Manager and is accountable for ensuring that established routes through residential streets, alleys, business and industrial areas are properly cleared of solid waste and ensuring that assigned routes are completed as stipulated on the dispatch schedule.

Qualifications required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be between the ages of 18-50
  • At least three (3) years experience driving heavy equipment trucks
  • Must process an Open General Driver's Licence and National Works Agency certification in motor vehicle operations
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a similar position
  • Prior operating experience on similar equipment would be an asset
Specifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • An aptitude to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to carry out tasks without constant supervision
  • Maintain simple logs and records
  • Have good hearing, good reflexes, and good eye sight

Sanitation Officers 

The Sanitation Officer (Sideman) reports directly to the Public Cleansing Inspector in each zone and works in close collaboration with the Truck Driver to clear solid waste from residential communities, streets, alleys, businesses, and industrial areas.

Qualifications required:
  • Must be between the ages of 18-50 years old
  • At least one (1) years experience in sanitation
  • A high school diploma and or vocational training certification would be an asset
Specifications:
  • Ability to follow oral instructions
  • Ability to carry out tasks without constant supervision
  • Have good hearing, good reflexes, and good eyesight
Sweepers 

The Sweeper reports directly to the Public Cleansing Inspector in each zone and works in close collaboration with the Sanitation Officers to clear solid waste from residential communities, streets, alleys, businesses, and industrial areas.

Qualifications required:
  • Must be between the ages of 18-50 years old
  • At least one (1) years experience in sanitation
  • A high school diploma and or vocational training certification would be an asset
Specifications:
  • Ability to follow oral instructions
  • Ability to carry out tasks without constant supervision
  • Have good hearing, good reflexes, and good eyesight

Human Resource Officer (Kingston, JM) - NSWMA

 The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Human Resource Officer. 


The successful candidate will report to the Senior Human Resource Officer and the primary responsibilities are assisting in the development and implementation of sound personnel policies and procedures, research and compile data for various projects including classification and salary surveys, assist in the monitoring of the various aspects of performance management system. Also, manage the the Group Life and Group Health schemes for the Authority, make recommendations to enhance the functioning of the Department.

Qualifications Required:

Education/Experience:

  • BSc in Human Resource Management
  • Five (5) CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics and English
  • At least three (3) years experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of Human Resource systems
  • Computer literacy with sound knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Specifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • An aptitude to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to carry out tasks without constant supervision 
  • Sound time management skills
  • Ability to exercise initiative, good reasoning and sound judgement
