Litigation Attorney Needed (Kingston, Jamaica)

The position involves dealing with a broad spectrum of civil and commercial litigation work and alternative dispute resolution; advocacy and instructing.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have experience handling civil litigation including, commercial litigation. The candidate will also possess superior academic credentials, advocacy skills, excellent research, writing and communication skills; and will be prepared to work both independently and collaboratively on a variety of substantive matters.

Requirements

  • A qualified Attorney with four (4) years' or more experience.
  • A mix of trial and commercial litigation experience is an asset.
  • Exceptional advocacy skills.
  • Experience in the Supreme Court.
  • Experience at the appellate level is desirable.
  • The ability to handle complex commercial disputes is an asset.
  • Evidence is a keen analytical mind with the ability to identify legal risks, apply relevant law and develop effective strategies for resolving or responding to legal issues.
  • Maintains and models the highest levels of confidentiality, professionalism, legal and ethical standard guidelines.
  • Ability to organize time, manage diverse work flow and meet critical deadlines, while maintaining a commitment to quality.
  • Experience in arbitration and mediation is an asset.
