Clerk/Typist (Kingston, Jamaica) - Fair Trading Commission



 Salary: Starts at JM $1,272,269.00 per annum

Position Title: Clerk/Typist

Summary of Functions

The Clerk/Typist is required to be very organized and detailed oriented. Responsibilities include filing, dealing with suppliers, maintaining data using computer or manual systems, and other general office duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sorts, files and maintains alphabetical, numerical, and subject filing systems.
  • Types letters, forms, memoranda, and other material.
  • Monitors and orders stationery and other office supplies
  • Checks and compares data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Gathers specified information, such as lunch orders, attendance data, and compiles routine reports.
  • Updates and maintains databases.
  • Supports the Reception desk, including operates an automatic switchboard.
  • Photocopies and scans documents.
  • Performs related job duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Computer literate with specific training in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Minimum of three GCE Ordinary (or equivalent) level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Research Officer (Kingston, Jamaica) - Fair Trading Commission


The Fair Trading Commission invites applications for the post of Research Officer - Economics. The Officer will be required to conduct statistical analyses, design and test questionnaires, compile data from public and private sources, perform literature research, review the economic content of reports, and help develop and test economic models in investigations. The successful candidate will have the responsibility of monitoring and updating the FTC's website.

Minimum Requirements:

  • First degree in Economics from a recognised university with at least three (3) years experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Must have experience using statistical packages, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in preparing written reports and making presentations of a technical economic nature
