Secretary/Typist (St. Mary, Jamaica) - Oracabessa High School

Oracabessa High School invites applications from trained and qualified professionals to fill the following vacancies:
  • Secretary/Typist 
  • Assistant Bursar

Secretary/Typist (OPS/SS1)

Qualifications required:
  • Secretarial Diploma from a recognized institution
  • Five (5) CSEC subjects including Mathematics and English A
  • Ability to operate office equipment

Assistant Bursar

Job Specifications/Core Functions
  • To assist with the financial and accounting affairs of the institution in a prudent manner in keeping with Government's fiscal provisions
  • To provide accurate and timely financial information for the Bursar
  • To assist with administering the financial resources of the institution in accordance with Government regulations and the provisions of the Financial Administration and Auditing Act
Minimum Requirements:
a). Specific Knowledge Required:
  • Knowledge of FAA Act/Regulations/Instructions and Government of Jamaica Procurement Procedures
  • Knowledge of generally acceptable Accounting practice
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and selected accounting software
  • Knowledge of electronic banking techniques 
b). Qualifications and Experiences:
  • Associate degree in Business Studies/Accounting from a recognized institution or equivalent 
Or
  • Successful completion of the AAT - Technician Stage / ACCA level one (1) and one (1) year experience in Government Accounting or other relevant experience
  • Training in Government Procurement Guidelines would be an asset
