What’s The Role

THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN MONTEGO BAY - JAMAICA.

Provides telephony Customer Service, Technical Support and Sales. Resolves and responds to customers’ queries; provision, install and cease Internet, calling features/services and Television services and provides information and support for any service introduced by the Company.

What You´ll Do
  • Resolves customers’ queries for related products and services and provides information to technicians to assist in the resolution of customers’ concerns. 
  • Provides first level technical support for customers’ CPE and tier 1 troubleshooting for broadband (products and features) and Television, including the Terms and Conditions of service.   
  • Create trouble ticket to dispatch a field technician to resolve customers complain.  
  • Ensures and provides the highest standard of interaction to both internal and external customers. 
  • Accesses the company’s applications or systems to obtain and extract information to fulfil customers’ queries.  
  • Educate customers on active product features, service offerings, billing, charges, and product value. 
  • Provides answers to clients by identifying problems; researching answers; guiding client through corrective steps. 
  • Keep records of customer interactions, process customer accounts and update CRM (Customer Relationship Management) 
  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies 
  • Take the extra mile to engage customers 

Knowledge & Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) subjects inclusive of English Language, Mathematics, and a science subject at the CSEC General Proficiency level or equivalent standard. 
  • Diploma in Information Systems or equivalent certification.

What's The Role
Installation, repair & maintenance of products and services (B2C & B2B)

Purpose of the Role

The Field Services Technician installs and maintains video, voice and Internet solutions to include: Hybrid Fiber Coaxial, BVPN, GPON, Frame Relays, leased lines, packet switch circuits, ISDN, and Small PBX equipment (KEY Telephone systems) for commercial and residential applicants.

The role is also responsible for installing, programming, and disconnecting Central Office lines, special services equipment, lines and terminals, customer related equipment, and installs and maintains all Distribution and Exchange Side copper cables, all distribution coaxial cables, rehabilitating building terminals and drop and station wires.

Qualified candidates are REQUIRED to have a valid driver's license, valid for 3000kg and above, and valid for 3 years or more to qualify.

What You'll Do
Main Responsibilities
  • Visit Customers’ premises and verifies information on service Order/ fault Report
  • Conducts verification exercise to ascertain the integrity of the line plant assigned on the Service Order.
  • Install, program, disconnect, reconfigures, rehabilitates, re-concentrates, remove and relocate:
    • Key Systems, PBX equipment and Central Office lines;
    • All types of video and copper modems
  • Lines and equipment for leased circuits, Frame Relay, Direct Internet Access (DIA), Private Wire, xDSL, ISDN and channelised T1
  • Visit Customers’ premises and verify information on Service Order/ Fault Report
  • Conduct verification exercise to ascertain the integrity of the line plant assigned on the Service Order.
  • Install Telephone Services for commercial, residential customers.
  • Liaise with workforce management center on completion of installation to verify the status of the installation and sign off.
  • Advise customers on the preventative maintenance of interior wires, master jack, modular jacks and other apparatus, and explains the features on phones and the use of the telephone directory.
  • Submit “Customer Acceptance Card” to customers on completion of installation and returns completed cards to Supervisors.
  • Test and correct any line and equipment faults encountered during installation and perform tests with computerized equipment to ensure error-free data transmission.
  • Maintain telephone services for Plain Old Telephone Services (POTS), video, PBX’s, Data services, and xDSL services. This involves:
    • Performing diagnostics Hybrid Fiber Coaxial equipment, PBX equipments, Data Services equipment, xDSL equipment, POTS equipment and related accessories to identify and clear assigned faults within the designated time.
    • Liaise with the Work Force Management Center to diagnose and clear/close faults where applicable
  • Test drop cables/ wires, protectors, house box, interior cables/ wires, modems, telephone instrument etc., to determine the location of fault on customer’s line;
  • Replace/repair defective equipment and accessories, tag and return to stores on recovery requisition.
What You'll Need

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
  • Diploma from UTECH/UWI in Electrical Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications)
  • Certification in Fiber Optics Level 1 and 2 from Vector, HEART NTA or equivalent qualification from other recognized institution
  • A minimum of three (3) years working experience in a related field

  • Cable routing and cable construction, taps, cabinets, distribution frames and terminals, fibre optics, coaxial cables, inside wires and telephone instruments.
  • Proper testing procedures for fault detection, techniques for diagnosing and correcting faults.
  • Installation and Maintenance procedures relating to: -
    • Private Exchange Line telephone (PEL)
    • xDSL services
    • Hybrid Fiber Coaxial
    • “D” and “E” –Sides Cable Splicing
    • Fibre Optics
    • Coaxial Cables
    • Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems
    • Data communication services and equipment
  • Analogue and digital electronics.
  • Working knowledge of the features and functions of data communication services and equipment, PBX systems, switching systems/equipment and operations used in Central Offices.
  • Ability to use job related tools and test equipment, recognize colour codes and identification tones.

What's The Role

As an Outside Plant (OSP) Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) Technician, your primary responsibility will involve working on the outside plant facilities. You will play a critical role in the installation, maintenance and proactive maintenance of our telecommunication infrastructure, ensuring reliable connectivity for our customers at all times.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do:

Your primary functions will include:
  • Install, maintain, and repair hybrid fiber-coaxial distribution systems, including fiber-optic and coaxial cable components.
  • Perform inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of OSP HFC networks to identify, resolve signal quality issues, connectivity problems, and other technical impairments.
  • Utilizes special tools and equipment to measure signal strength, noise levels, and other parameters to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Coordinate with the engineering and design teams to implement network expansions, upgrades, and new installations according to industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to OSP HFC networks to continuously enhance your skillset and knowledge.
