Production Supervisor (Kingston, Jamaica) - Continental Baking Company (National Bakery)

Production Supervisor

Continental Baking Company is seeking to recruit a Production Supervisor, who will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the manufacturing process within the company. He/she will ensure that the operation is efficient, productive and that targets are consistently met, for the entire process encompassing the transfer of finished goods from production to shipping. The ideal candidate should be a pragmatic leader, able to develop and lead a high performance team working in a robust, cross-functional and operation critical/sensitive environment.

Core Functions

  • Verify and validate all production data during all phases of the process, from production, to wrapping to transfer to shipping.
  • Generate and monitor the daily production schedule based on stock, orders and projections; physically verify units produced prior to shipment and ensure that all operational documentation is maintained, secured and verified.
  • Assess, monitor and ensure that the product quality is maintained throughout the entire transfer process; take corrective action as necessary within established procedures and guidelines; report any anomaly to the plant Manager.
  • Account for all product and waste; determine and record production data; conduct root cause analysis for losses and utilize results to mitigate and/or reduce losses.
  • Ensure that all quality and specification verification/standards are enforced and maintained (such as but not limited to volume, colour, texture, slices size and quantity).
  • Ensure stock (baskets, raw materials, labour, packaging/wrapping materials) availability to meet full production and demand requirements; monitor and maintain usage and reorder levels of all stock to mitigate against stock outs.
  • Exercise supervision and authority over export packing/transfers.
  • Identify and report critical maintenance issues. Maintain efficient workflow by closely supervising the production processes, observing control points and equipment efficiency.
  • Assist with the assignment of personnel, establishing priorities and resolving issues; develop, Coach and assess team members.
  • Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all health, safety, quality, environmental, regulatory standards and protocols.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management Studies, Production, Operations Management and/or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum one (1) years' experience in a similar position in a food manufacturing company.
  • Sound human relations, communication, time management, organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Functional proficiency in computer applications (specifically MS Excel and Work).
  • Knowledge and experience of bakery/manufacturing operations would be an asset.
  • Expert knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSSC standards and practices.
  • Highly professional, ethical and of integrity.
  • Required to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays, to meet operational demands.

Administrative Assistant (Kingston, Jamaica) - Continental Baking Company


 Continental Baking Company is seeking to recruit an Administrative Assistant, who will be responsible for supporting its Logistics & Distribution Department. The incumbent will be responsible for the efficient administration, preparation and coordination of all documentation.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (LOGISTICS & DISTRIBUTION DEPT)

Continental Baking Company is seeking to recruit an Administrative Assistant, who will be responsible for supporting its Logistics & Distribution Department. The incumbent will be responsible for the efficient administration, preparation and coordination of all documentation, records and reports related to the shipping portfolio. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

Core Functions
  • Create and maintain a robust and efficient physical and digital filing system for the department, to include staff personal records (attendance, vacation, contract break, etc.)
  • Ensure all enquires, digital queries and emails are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Call Management – answer phone calls, direct callers to appropriate personnel and document messages and/or actions for follow up.
  • Office Management – schedule appointments, sign for incoming packages and assist with clients and suppliers visits and/or tours, as approved.
  • Order, distribute and maintain a log of office stationery and supplies.
  • Oversee the office attendant to ensure the proper execution of his/her duties.
  • Draft and edit letters, reports, correspondences and other departmental documents.
  • Ensure the timely processing of all Purchase Order requests and invoices; maintain all records related to inventory management and tracking.
  • Input and update information in databases and spreadsheets, to include the Company’s business information system.
  • Provide support to the Department Manager in the management of his/her schedule, and calendar.
  • Prepare meeting agendas; take and distribute meeting minutes; coordinate logistics for meetings, including room setup and catering.
  • Ensure all internal and external reports are prepared and submitted in accordance with established timelines.
  • Plan and coordinate department engagement activities; provide timely communication and coordination of all internal company engagements to department’s staff.
  • Work with sensitive information with discretion to maintain confidentiality and security and ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulations.
  • Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all health, safety, quality, environmental, regulatory standards and protocols.

Minimum Requirements: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • An Associate Degree, Diploma or Certification in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar capacity.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
  • Working knowledge of the Oracle and computerized time and attendance system would be an asset.
  • Functional knowledge of office procedures, general office equipment and the use of telephone systems.
  • Excellent human relations, supervisory, communication, time management, organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and lead a team in a high performance culture.
  • Highly professional, ethical and of integrity.
  • Required to work on weekends and public holidays, to meet operational demands.

Electrical Technician (Kingston, Jamaica) - Continental Baking Company (National Baking Co.)

 

Continental Baking Company is seeking to recruit Electrical Technicians, who will be responsible for providing electrical engineering support for its operating plants and facilities. He/she will work within a multi-skilled team environment, where equipment reliability, cost containment and process improvement are monitored and measured as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Core Functions
  • Provide technical electrical support to the maintenance and engineering teams, to ensure that all production equipment, facilities and machinery are properly maintained and functioning optimally, using applicable preventative maintenance techniques/systems.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and root cause analysis of electrical problems on all machines, equipment and processes, ensuring accurate and prescriptive resolutions which are timely, cost effective and improves efficiency; able to work in a mutli-project environment.
  • Assemble, install, assess, test, replace and maintain all electrical or electronic wiring, systems, motors, equipment, pneumatics, appliances, apparatus and fixtures, using appropriate tools; execute the layout and installation of industrial, electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and correct malfunctioning electrical systems, devices, sensors, motors, apparatus and components; respond to emergency situations.
  • Able to follow, read and interpret engineering diagrams/drawings, blue prints, schematics, equipment manuals, Company standard operating procedures (SOP) and processes, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications.
  • Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all health, safety, quality, environmental, regulatory standards and protocols.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent qualification.
  • Level 3 Certification in Industrial Electrical Maintenance.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years’ work experience in a similar position. Experience in a manufacturing facility would be an asset.
  • Functional proficiency in computerized systems, engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Sound knowledge of diagnostic/troubleshooting techniques, preventative maintenance and food safety techniques.
  • Sound human relations, communication, time management, organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of project management, instrumentation and controls would be an asset.
  • Highly professional, ethical and of integrity.
  • Required to work on shift, weekends and public holidays, to meet operational demands.
