Cooks (Kingston, Jamaica)

A high school in Kingston invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Cooks (3 positions).

Key Duties:

• Must be able to prepare well tasting Jamaican food in bulk
• Must have excellent time management skills and be able to meet daily lunch schedule
• Must be able to work well with team members, manager and school administration, and be sble to receive supervision
• Must be able to organize daily activities to facilitate sanitary, smooth and efficient operations
• Daily cleaning and sanitization of canteen including food preparation area, equipment, wares and utensils
• Must be able to develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with students and staff
• Must be prepared to serve lunches to students and staff

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma
• HEART Level 2 certification in Commercial Food Preparation
• Knowledge of safety, sanitization and food handling procedures
• Must possess a valid food handler's permit
• Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing
• Must have basic Mathematical competency

Characteristics:

• Must be disciplined and self-motivated
• Must be customer service oriented
• Maintaim a clean, neat and professional appearance consistent with the position
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure
• Physically agile and able to lift/move up to 100 pounds
• Candidate must be willing to work long hours and on weekends as required
