Collections Officers, etc (Kingston, Jamaica)

A fast moving medium-sized distribution and processing company seeks to identify suitably qualified individuals for the following  positions for our Kingston office:

Collections Officers

Summary:

Collections Officers will have the responsibility of managing the company's accounts receivable delinquency portfolio while providing exceptional customer experience.

Key Functions:
  • Prepare and dispatch statements as required to ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices
  • Maintain regular contacts with sales representatives and other relevant internal and external customers with a view to resolve delinquent accounts
  • Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and discuss them with management 
Requirements and Competencies:

  • Associate degree in Business Administration and/or  Accounting
  • Proven experience as a Collector with two (2) to three (3) years of corporate experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be a team player
  • Sound negotiation skills
  • Problem solving skills

Accounting Officer

Summary:
Responsible to maintain records of all logistics and inventory costing accounting transactions.

Key Functions:
  • Manage the payables function for all logistics activities
  • Reconcile the Goods in Transit Account to general ledger
  • Prepare accurate costings for Trade Inventory
  • Track containers in system ensuring no demurrage
Requirements and Competencies:
  • ACCA level 1 or tertiary education
  • At least five (5) years experience in Accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting in an imported goods situation is an asset
  • Must be results oriented and able to work independently as well as on a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to work within deadlines
