Kitchen Assistant (St. Catherine, Jamaica) - Jamaica Broilers Group Limited

Jamaica Broilers Group Limited is seeking a committed and detail-oriented individual who is highly motivated and creative, to join the culinary team at its Group Head Office located in McCook's Pen, in St. Catherine. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, providing hands-on support through various tasks such as:


  • Assisting with menu preparation, ingredient prepping, cooking, plating and presentation
  • Serving food to employees with professionalism and a positive attitude, responding to inquiries and requests promptly
  • Assisting with inventory management, ensuring proper ordering, storage and rotation of food supplies
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen environment according to health and safety standards

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following:
Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of basic culinary techniques, including knife skills, prepping, cooking and plating methods and food safety principles
  • Positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a strong commitment to providing exceptional service
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized and safe kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Adaptable to changing schedules and levels of work as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with colleagues
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation and safety procedures
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as prolonged walking and standing
  • Willing to work on weekends, late evenings and holidays as needed
  • Willing to work on a contractual basis
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one (1) year related experience 
  • At least a level 1 certification in Food Preparation and Cooking techniques or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • A valid Food handler's permit
  • Willing to work on a contractual basis
