Responsible for the collection and lodgment of all monies, the dispatch of cheques and the maintenance of petty cash.

The Firearm Licensing Authority, a statutory body with reporting relationship to the Ministry of National Security, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following position:

Cashier:

  • Honest, reliable, and able to handle cash with integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • AAT Level I / CAT Level 1 / MIND Government Accounting Level 1, OR
  • Certificate in Accounting from an accredited institution
  • One (1) year working experience
  • Training in customer relations is an asset

Imprest

Key Outputs:

  • Cash book maintained
  • Cheques dispatched
  • Funds collected and receipts issued and reconciled
  • Funds lodged
  • Individual Work Plan developed
  • Float imprest maintained
  • Reports prepared and submitted
Key Responsibility Areas

Technical/Professional Responsibilities
  • To collect funds, issue receipts and make lodgments to the relevant bank accounts
  • Prepare and issue receipts for cash, cards and cheques collected ensuring that the amounts received are correct and receipt is properly drawn.
  • Prepare lodgments slips and relevant documentation for deposit monies to the Bank account.
  • Post and balance Receipts Cash Book daily.
  • Float Imprest maintained

Performance Standards:

Cash book is accurately maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Funds are collected and receipts are issued in compliance with approved guidelines.
  • Minimal instances of short or over lodgments are recorded.
  • Cancelled receipts are kept to a minimum and properly documented.
  • Customer complaints are minimal and addressed in a timely and professional manner.
Required Competencies:
  • Sound knowledge of cashiering procedures and basic financial controls.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a professional and courteous approach.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
